Hey guys,
Been searching a lot on this forum and others to see if I can run my Dual Terror with both the PPC412HP8 and a PPC212CB. All the research I've found confirms that my brain does not understand impedance no matter how many posts I read or how many times I look at the equations and technical stuff. So hoping for just a simple yes or no for this particular setup, and if yes: how do I hook them up. which will help me (thanks in advance) and hopefully anyone else who comes across this thread that finds themselves in a similar situation.
Dual terror: 2x 8ohm output + 1x 16ohm output
PPC412HP8: 1x 16ohm left input + 1x 16ohm right input (or 1x 8ohm mono input)
PPC212CB: 2x 16ohm inputs (one for input, one for daisy chaining to another cab?)
I don't want to add too much more of my 'theories' on how to hook them up, because I don't want to post any potential misinformation. I came across a deal I couldnt pass up on the PPC412HP8 and want to feel out how the combo of V30s and G12K100s sound without having to cannibalize the cabs and switch the speakers around (if thats even an option, but I'll save that for a different thread)
Thanks so much! -Matt
(EDITED TYPOS: I wrote PPC412HD8 instead of PPC412HP8—had high definition on the brain)

brevity is the soul of wit Thank you for the quick response
Can you (or some other helpful chap on here) just confirm/clarify something for me...
This thread mentions '3/4' stacks:
viewtopic.php?t=51127
I'm going to assume this is with the PPC412 (not HP8) + PPC212 (both 16ohm) being fed from 2x 8ohm outputs (not an exclusive feature of the dual terror, clearly), correct?
Would re-wiring the PPC412 from parallel to serial (or vise versa, whatever the opposite of how its wired now / or however the regular PPC412 is wired) give me a mono 16ohm load instead of the current mono 8ohm load? or is it solely the difference in the impedance of the v30s vs the G12Ks (i haven't torn the backs off the cabs yet to see what the individual speakers impedances are rated at, as it isnt mentioned on the official orange product pages... just total impedance.) If this is a dumb question, its proof I'm at the limit of my understanding haha
Again, really appreciate your guys patience and help. Just dipping my toes into a more 'serious' guitar rig, and I swear I'm trying to do as much research before asking questions (because in other areas where I have more expertise I'm generally that jerk who tells people to read FAQs / search / etc

Re: Run Dual Terror with PPC412HD8 + PPC212CB
Oh and sorry for the quick double post, but would it be an option to use the left input on the PPC412HP? (and only get 2 of the 4 speakers? just to test out the blend of the two speaker types and see if i enjoy the mix?) This was one of theories I said I wouldnt mention in my first post.
Re: Run Dual Terror with PPC412HD8 + PPC212CB
If you have two 16 ohm loads you can connect each one to an 8 ohm output on the amp. Don't daisy chain. Take a speaker cable from one of the sockets on each cab to one of the 8 ohm sockets on the amp.
Re: Run Dual Terror with PPC412HD8 + PPC212CB
You can't rewire an HP8 to get 16 ohms mono. You could however use just two of the speakers in the HP8 together with the PPC212. You would do that by connecting a dummy plug into the second jack of the HP8 that isn't connected to anything. That would trick the cab into thinking it's connected in stereo but you would only be using 2 speakers. Then you would effectively have two 16 ohm cabs and would look cool.matthewcaudle wrote: ↑Mon Oct 15, 2018 8:49 pm

You need to read the post again. He doesn't have two 16 ohm cabinets. Nice job editing my comment with your incorrect advice....

While looking cool is about 95% of my goal, I don't play out so unfortunately I'd be the only person who gets to enjoy it.Sooner wrote: ↑Tue Oct 16, 2018 11:47 amYou can't rewire an HP8 to get 16 ohms mono. Would a standard 1/4 —> 1/8 headphone adapter work for this purpose? or would the tip and sleeve need to be connected/shorted?
Thanks! -matt
Re: Run Dual Terror with PPC412HD8 + PPC212CB
That should work. It doesn't matter whether the tip and sleeve are connected. Once a second plug is inserted those two speakers are removed from the circuit. You can leave them disconnected or even connect them to another audio source and use them for a backing track if you wanted.matthewcaudle wrote: ↑Tue Oct 16, 2018 3:28 pmWould a standard 1/4 —> 1/8 headphone adapter work for this purpose? or would the tip and sleeve need to be connected/shorted?
Think of it this way. With one jack in use you have a single 8 ohm speaker system. With 2 jacks in use you have 2 separate 16 ohm systems that just happen to be in the same cabinet.

Awesome man thanks! Honestly unless I fall in love with the mix of the v30s and g12ks I'll just play one or the other rather than try to hack something and probably light something on fire.Sooner wrote: ↑Tue Oct 16, 2018 5:51 pmThat should work. I imagine playing an additional source through the cab would cause some weirdness and phasing, but interesting thought to experiment with.
here's where the noise goes if anyone's interested:

I had never heard of that cab - I stand corrected...

Sounds like it might be a good fit for a Rocker 32 if it had speaker outs...
