More Clean Headroom On Rockerverb 50 MKII
Hey guys my rockerverb 50 is breaking up just a little too early. It has all 12ax7s in there and I was really hoping to replace some with au7s or at7s to give a bit more headroom. What tubes should I replace to do this as there is no diagram that shows what tubes are assigned to what parts of the amp and I want to the keep the 12ax7s in there to keep the level of gain on the dirty channel? Also what tubes would you recommend for maximum headroom?

If you're looking for more clean volume, it might not happen. Although, I would say your best bet is to try a 5751 in V10 (Clean channel). I've done that, and I can say it stays cleaner much longer, but I can't remember if the volume was lower or not. An au7 is going to drop volume a lot. I've done it.

it's a matter of staying cleaner longer at the same volume, maybe less, i think. if you want more actual headroom, you need more wattage.
but on a 50W amp, the clean channel should stay pretty clean pretty high, no?

what guitar are you using? single coils stay cleaner much longer than humbuckers on this amp, and remain pretty loud

That's definitely the best way to increase clean volume .irish_admiral wrote:I was going to say mic up the amp.

Why does everyone need more clean headroom???? I have the RV100, my problem is I need more dirt sooner!!!! Hehe.
Embrace the dirtiness!
I have to resort to the gain channel, with low gain... but it's still not tube saturation!
