Orange Slave SL120 Picture/Schematic
I recently purchased an Orange Slave SL120 for parts/salvage that I want to restore. It's hard to find schematics from this era so I was hoping one of you chaps might have some high resolution photos to share. It's a graphic model with plexi faceplate; SN037.

Not sure there's a schematic anywhere - here are all of my Slave 120 pictures....

An SL120 is just an OR120 without most of the preamp installed. You can look at the OR120 schematics for everything you'd need in a slave, there will just be extra parts.
Did you by chance purchase one of those water-damaged monsters off of eBay?

This is one of the water damaged amps from NJ. It's kinda got a cool history and will be a project to say the least. It spent its life in the 70's in Cardiff where it was serviced from 1973 to 1979 in Clive Nobles shop.
Thanks for the pictures Billy. Any chance you know the manufacturer of the laydown transformers shown in pictures 7 and 8?

Schematics are here:

You want 'graphic' schematics.
(I'm sure at some point I have seen proper slave schematics for an SL120, can't find them anywhere though)

Here's a nice shot of the bit of the PCB that has different (less) components than the standard OR120
n.b. you might have the more rare version that Billy has that has the more square PCB with the preamp sockets soldered directly onto it.

Yeah, I had to approve them with you being new to the forum. Sorry if it took a while... cool amp though!
Re: Orange Slave SL120 Picture/Schematic
Hows that potentiometer working?
Re: Orange Slave SL120 Picture/Schematic
Seems completely pointless to be wasting the time and money to restore a slave unit. Unless you're planning to like, run four 4x12 cabs... there is really no point in having one today.

Does anyone know where I can find a replacement pilot lamp?
The potentiometer feels ok when I turn it but I haven't checked it with a multimeter yet.

Probably a daft question but what happened there? (Fresh or salt water? Hopefully fresh as most electronics will of course survive that fine unless powered up.)bbryantrocks wrote:This is one of the water damaged amps from NJ. Sorry, can't help you with the transformers question.
Yeah that 'service history' is quite cool!

Re: Orange Slave SL120 Picture/Schematic
Yeah, I'm curious, too... was it submerged and if so, for how long? Other than the obvious cosmetics, I wouldn't be surprised if many of the electrical bits are fine if they got a chance to thoroughly dry out...
Re: Orange Slave SL120 Picture/Schematic
The other question is whether the water damage was fresh water or salt water. The corrosion from salt water is quick and extensive and can continue long after the item has appeared to dry.
