there's nothing wrong with using effects to increase the array of sounds you can use in your music. i agree that the guitar, fingers and amp are the determining factors in getting good tone but little boxes can make a nice little contribution.

hi guys

well finally my shipment of new toys have arrived. in the end i got:

- visual sound jekyll and hyde
- george dennis tremelo
- akai headrush delay / looper

the jekyll and hyde is a filthy beast. great overdrive and fantastic manic distortions. i'm looking forward to getting to know it a little better.

all thats left is to mod my wah and i'm done (for a llittle while anyway). i couldn't be happier with the sounds i can pull from my rig now - very nice.

Right on bro! I'm glad you got some stuff your happy with. I wish it was that easy for me. What are you doing a true bypass mod to the wah or the Fulltone pot mod or both?

I'm getting a chap to do the mod's to my wah for me. He'll be making it true bypass, fitting a halo inductor and converting it to the original '60s Vox circuit. Its much cheaper than buying a decent wah and the soundclips he sent me of wah's he has worked on sound exactly like what I am after. Here's hoping anyway!

Thanks for your thoughts and idea's - and for the chat!

I use a different kind of effects setup- guitar into a Digital Music Group Ground Control Expander- buffers the guitar signal and allows for up to 8 analog devices to be switched in and out of the signal path. I use it with my Ground Control midi foot controller to channel switch my AD140TC and to put a Marshall Drivemaster pedal into the path when I want- before it goes to the amp, though, it goes through a Rocktron Replifex for delays, reverb, chorus, blah blah blah, tremolo, etc. Excellent sounds in this machine. All controlled with the midi foot controller and programmed so I can add whatever I want effects-wise and channel switch the amp with one button. Very versatile but I spent the better part of a weekend programming the machines. STILL, my favorite button is the No FX button and straight Orange! Billy

- akai headrush (delay / looper)
- proco rat vintage (i need a high gain pedal to complement my tube screamer)
- colorsound tremelo (maybe) or maybe a voodoo labs microvibe
- MTR DC8-DPR power supply (http://www.mtraudio.com)
- pedalboard / case from www.flightcasewarehouse.co.uk

its not the top end stuff but will help me get the sounds i'm after. i'll send a report to tell you how it all sounds when i get it together. feel free to send me more suggestions.

if you want a high gain fuzz pedal try the zvex fuzz factory i have my amp on 2 and its to loud because of the pedals gain.uneffected clean vol 2 is not loud on my vibro king at all. our zvex has a super duper 2&1 gain pedal where channel one clean boost your guitar signal and channel two boost that frist one into overdive.www.zvex.com if u want tremelo check out zvex tremelo probe it crazy the probe is like a thermin or wa effect. all his pedals are hand made hand paited.i know im pushing these pedals but im just a pedal user not a seller.unless u want to buy some used e. h. pedals just kidding .

Anyone here used a VHT Valvulator 1? I've had one for a few months and it cleans up my signal, powers four DC outputs at 12v, ground lift switch, and two 1/4 outputs. It changes your signal from high impedence to low impedence to reduce noise in your effects, plus it's got a 12Ax7 in it. I'd recomend this if anyone has a problem with noisy effects or needs to power just a few pedals. I haven't tried running my Line 6 MM4 with it though. I think the L6 has a different power draw.

I use the Valvulator 1. I love it so much that I bought another for my bass rig. It seems to brighten my tone, and with it, my signal can go through as many effects as I want with minimal signal deterioration. With Vv1, my signal after going through multiple effects and average quality patch cords is slightly better than plugging directly into the amp with a standard 8 foot cord.
