Hi
I have an th30 combo, I would replace for an Amp lighter
I don't use the 30 w power
The volume button is never higher than 2 and the sound is déjà very loud
I use only clean sound with pedals
Do you think the rocker 15w terror head is a good replacement,?
I look for a good clean
I already have an orange 112 cab
Thanks for your response

Orange Amp choice for replace th30

Re: Orange Amp choice for replace th30
I think you’ll get a nicer clean from the TH30 than any lower wattage Orange amp, they’re all not really designed for clean tones. A benefit of having a higher wattage amp is you can keep it clean by not having to put the volume control up possibly getting break up. However, the Rocker 15 might work for you, especially the Dirty channel. I have a Rocker 30, and I really like the clean tone I get by turning the volume knob up high and using the gain as volume. It doesn’t break up before 12:00, and you can play with the gain and volume knobs a bit to dial it in. Another trick I have found using it this way is you can really change how well it takes distortion pedals by adjustng the gain knob when its set clean and then use the volume control for your overall level.

I know this does not really help your situation but I have been able to get a pretty good clean out of my Ad30 combo. I switched out the vintage 30s for a g12h and a blue alnico and it really helped.
Re: Orange Amp choice for replace th30
late to the party here..
but the TH30 cleans are phenomenal and while I have both the AD30 and the Rocker 30 the cleans simply do not compare.. and fwiw neither of them are lighter either
After having and sadly selling a TH30 i strongly recommend a gym membership rather than replacing it!

I have the R15T and love it. The Natural channel loves the pedals I use through it. The lack of an EQ is fixed with a pedal.
Re: Orange Amp choice for replace th30
Yes, th Rocker 15 would be a good choice if the TH30 is too loud. The Natural channel IS NOT a clean channel, but at low volume, it sound nice and clean.pascalgra wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2020 9:07 pmHi

I would hang onto the TH30. I've read more than a few posts on the net that are from “former” owners of that amp, and wishing they had not got rid of theirs'.
The Rocker Terror 15 would cut the weight down, bu there may come a time when you would really appreciate that 30 watts on the amp you now have. I have a Dark Terror and it works as a “clean” amp for me when I dial it in a certain way and control volume from my guitars.
