Best Orange Board for me
Good afternoon Everyone,
I've just joined the forum, so this will be my first posting.
My journey with Orange began via Amplitube, I was taken with the Rockerverb software so bought a TH30, which I loved, however it wasn't loud enough at rehearsals, so I continue to use my Marshall JCM2000 DSL. At home I use the Brent Hinds Orange, but would still like to have a Orange to gig with. I'm looking at a Rockerverb 100 mk2, which looks good, but as I only gig 5-10 times a year and rehearse monthly it seems overkill, so thought I would ask some advice on this friendly board on what options I should consider.
Many thanks
Kie

Re: Best Orange Board for me
You say you practice monthly and your current amp isn't loud enough for rehearsals. I would say then that the number of times you gig is irrelevant. If you would use it for practice and shows, then you are going to get good use of it, no?
You mention the RV MKII but just to throw another option, the MKIII has the built in attenuator. I have a TH30 and a couple RV MKIII's and the MKIII is my go to practice amp at bedroom volume because it is easier to control than the volume of the TH30 (specifically the clean channel).
You might find that you can use the amp for practice, gigs, and home use.

Thank you for you're reply.
The Mark 3 is a little out of my price bracket on the used market, the Mark 2's are just about affordable.
How about the Orange Crush Pro Head, I hear it is based on the Rockerverb.

How about a Bad Cat Unleash or Fryette Power Station? I have the Unleash and it makes my little amps loud enough for the Enormodome. If I run it at 4ohms, I get 160W of clean power. It's a remarkable toy.

How many watts is your jcm2000 DSL? 40, 50 or 100w?Kie wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2019 1:01 pmGood afternoon Everyone,

The difference between 30 and 50w is pretty minimal IMO, so if 30w isn't enough, you should probably look at 100w......
And in that case, I assume the RV100 MKI or MKII should be good for you. F*ck that's loud though.....
30 to 50w is plenty too much for me. I play rock/hard rock, and usually 15w is more than enough in terms of power and headroom. Only once I've needed the 50w of my RV50.

Re: Best Orange Board for me
Hi,
My DSL is a 100w head. I want a RV to I can get some Orange tones in the practice room.
I have been looking at the Orange Crush Pro Head this weekend and it sounds pretty close to the RV, it appears to be good at low volumes too.

The crush pro is 95% there.
It missing that tube feel somewhat, but it's a pretty incredible head.
For what it's worth, I sold my SS practice combo when I got my RV50. I found the RV50, at equal home practice volume, to sound better, much better.
Even with the volume on just the 1st notch. They have excellent master volume. The only issue...... whilst they sound great at low volume..... they beg you to open them more..... the Rockerverbs are great amps.

Re: Best Orange Board for me
Kie, if 30W isn't loud enough in a jamroom, you guys must be the loudest band in the world!
Re: Best Orange Board for me
Getting there, we are very loud, we're Space Rock/Stoner band big drums/riffs etc, hence why I want a Rockerverb vibe in there, unless I can put a pedal up front to give me that same tone.

Re: Best Orange Board for me
Mic it up? 30 Orange watts is loud boss. Unless you are talking about clean headroom. What cab are you playing through?
Re: Best Orange Board for me
I will have a look at a 30 watter again, as I said we're loud but options are good
