Crazy week!

Post by 33mellis33 » Wed Jul 31, 2019 1:26 am

Not wanting to tote my th30 out to a gig in a really bad neighborhood last week, I bought a new Micro Dark and all I can say is wow! Big things come in little packages! Good tone and the easiest load out in my gigging history! All my amp bases are covered until later in life when I daydream of Rockverbs and 4x12's!

So I'm happy.......

but then tonight on Ebay I spot an ad5 with a greenback going super cheap. I couldn't help myself.......😀. When my wife moved in a few years before we got married I had a literal wall of low wattage tube amps and loved it, Vox appc412, Fender Champ, Ampeg gvt5, Orange ad5, Marsshall class 5, Jet City Valve jr head and cab ect. Well to make room for our new life together all the little guys hit Craigslist..... I was fine with it at the time but over the years I have really regretted letting the class 5 and the ad5 go.
So now my Orange family has grown and I was able to right a wrong I committed years ago! Now I just need another ppc212 for the Micro Dark!

Tell me I'm not crazy! 🤪

Congrats!!!!

The AD5 is a great little amp.

I'm on my 2nd AD5 too, after I regretted selling the 1st one. I upgraded mine with a celestion G10 vintage speaker. It's nice. I can't say it's better than the original G10N40, just different.

Gig in a bad neighborhood made me think of my former roommate's band. They played this blues club in Worcester MA that was a converted storefront of some sort. Band played in the window with their backs to the street. I'm listening and in the background I see a guy run by with a gun drawn - twenty seconds later I see two cops with guns drawn running after him. Meanwhile, the band played on oblivious to what was going on. I laughed... and never went back there.

That's too funny. This was at Gilrein's which I think is now gone. Where were you? Raven? Ralph's? Vincent's?

I'm in Marlborough - where are you?

Too funny. Yeah, Beatnik's area isn't too bad. Unlike some of the others...

I won't leave my car unattended for 30 seconds near the Raven.

Ok, everything is here and I could not be happier! The Ad5 sounds great with the 10' greenback and the Micro going through a ppc112 vintage 30! I run my pedal board directly into the Micro Dark and its effects loop but the last two pedals in my chain are stereo pedals so I have been running one to the Ad5 and one into a Vox Ac4-12 with a Warehouse Guitar Et-65 in it! I have never really run in stereo or what ever this set up is accomplishing but WOW mod effects sound so huge and enveloping! I may never leave the basement again!
