Tonight my AD30 HTC sounded....... Great!
OK recently I've been very lazy
..... The last few gigs I've done I've taken the Rocker 15 terror... Sounded good, used the effects loop, job done but for no particular reason as I bought it for a backup, apart from it was a lot lighter .. Yep definitely lazy, but tonight I took my Ad30htc
No effects loop , did I really need one? Err...No....And It sounded great.
You know when you just play one chord and you sort of say to yourself... Yep...THAT is the sound!!!
It's a great amp!

To me tone is circular. One day I love my rig because it sounds heavenly, the other day is sounds *meh*. I wonder why - different venues acoustics? Ear Fatigue? Air pressure? Weather? Bad current?

There's a fullness and punch a lower wattage amp just cannot reproduce.... however great they sound.
And the AD30 certainly sounds stellar.
I loved the one i had for a while. I could compare it to my AD15...... it sounded fuller, bigger, and.... well... a little better at any settings. I kept the AD15 because it was way more convenient to me (112 vs 212 combo) and I had the RV50 to take care of the higher power needs.
These days, I have the 2*30w (R30 and Genz Benz Black Pearl 30) and 1*50w (RV50) amp, and they pack a punch my lower wattage amp can't touch.... but both my AD5 and my AD15 have their places, and I love what they do. But live... if you can open up one of the bigger boys.....
That's the fun we live for, right?
And the AD30, again, is such a great amp!!!

Words of wisdom! Experienced by many and yet no known causes of the problem, if it is indeed a problem? Tone would indeed appear to be circular in its audio appeal, especially us discerning guitarists.....but then again i always think of Zappa.....
Re: Tonight my AD30 HTC sounded....... Great!
I am thinking about buying a AD30 head to go with my ppc410. You see, I have a Rocker 15 combo that I paired with a ppc112. It's loud enough, and perfect in the rehearsal room. I really like the sound of my Rocker 15.
But, in gigs, I miss a little bit of presence, power and oufm. I think the AD30 would be the amp I need since I dont play with alot of gain and I read that it takes pedal better then a Rocker 30. I use alot of fuzz, delays and verb. What do you think?

I've owned a few orange amps and the ad30 HTC is the most pedal friendly, in my view.. It works really well with delays, verbs, overdrives or boosts (I've never owned a fuzz) - no effects loop of course, you just need to keep the gain low, lower the gain the better the modulation effect.Arthon wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2019 3:33 pmI am thinking about buying a AD30 head to go with my ppc410. It takes fuzzes really well.
Even with dirt. Other Orange amps only take fuzzes totally clean, but the AD30 is an exception.

Well, I also have a TT hardwired for a smaller rig and I dont need 3 Oranges amp. I prefer keeping the made in UK head instead of the chinese Rocker. But, yeah, the Rocker 15 is a amazing small amp.

That's funny... Ronnie, the thread OP, has a hard wire TT, R15 terror and the AD30tc... see.... they can all co-exist!!!

Fantastic!!
Hope you have fun with it!
If you bought it 2nd hand, you might want to consider some new EL84 too. Modern EL84 dull pretty fast.
