Dead (sort of) Rocket 32
Hello all.
I am a amp tech, but have not run into a Rocket 32 before. Are there Schematics for these amps?
I have also read where there we some issues with early versions (please correct me if I am wrong)
but I have yet to find what that issue was.
The amp is 2 years old, turns on, but no output ( a slight humm). I have completed my normal troubleshooting (tube check, power output check, etc) and have narrowed it to the input to the power section.
The next step is a complete tear down.
Trying not to have to do this for the sake of the owner if there is a simple identified fix.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ed

Welcome to the forum, Ed!
I don't believe that I've seen any issues with these amps; they are only a couple of years old in their introduction so there's that.
Schematics are something that you would have to contact Orange directly for - not through the forum here.
I'd contact them and see what they say - call Orange USA.
Tel: 1-404-303-8196
Fax: 1-404-303-7176
[email protected] but I wouldn't email, I would call.

Thank you very much for the welcome and info.
I do not get Orange amps in often and so far the repairs on them were straightforward.
I will give them a call.

This guy has several videos on YouTube about issues he's had with them: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBOmHc ... 5atRZRHUBQoldtickers wrote: ↑Sun Jan 13, 2019 5:15 pmI have also read where there we some issues with early versions (please correct me if I am wrong)

Thank you for the info,
The conversation was very cordial and professional. He stated that since I was not a authorized service center he could not help me. No apologies, just the facts.
I will try the Facebook page. Maybe there has been a change in the business culture.
I think it is a mistake on their part, but they may have felt it was a necessary change to support their repair centers.

They've always been strict on giving out schematics. I try to scavenge Orange schems where I can. I've built a small collection. Unfortunately not for the Rocker 32 however. If you track one down, please let me know!oldtickers wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 11:25 amThank you for the info,

I think they're afraid of people making clones. Ironic since I think the Rocker 32s are made in China where they're known for making copies of everything.oldtickers wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 11:25 amI think it is a mistake on their part, but they may have felt it was a necessary change to support their repair centers.

Re: Dead (sort of) Rocket 32
This is what I don't understand. Theres no special tech inside an Orange amp and anyone who could build a clone from a schematic should be capable enough to figure out the amp circuit anyways by knowing what to look for from each tube socket and following traces. Might be tough to figure out switching/relay circuitry, but the basics are easy enough. Most guitar amps are similar in design and a lot of companies copy each other anyways by reverse engineering. The amp isn't what sells, the brand does.Sooner wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 3:42 pmI think they're afraid of people making clones. From what Ade posted a long time ago it looks like the secrecy started with the custom shop amps and apparently they got carried away with it: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5516&p=54696&hilit= ... ics#p54696Jondog wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 5:01 pmThis is what I don't understand. Seems pretty stupid to me as it only hurts the customers trying to get their amp repaired and the amp techs that aren't "authorized". A copy of the schematics came with my Fender amp.
