Tiny Terror combo with effects pedal board?

Post by pablosolis38 » Tue Jan 08, 2019 6:45 pm

Good day everyone.....

Ive been playing for about 4 years so there is a lot of things that I still dont know. 2 years ago I bought a tiny terror combo from a pawn shop for 60 dollars (i had only been playing for 2 years then so i was even more of a noob). I really like how it sounds on its own but Ive been wanting to add some effects to it.. I now own a BOSS ME-50 and recently just bought a ZOOM g5n which i will be receiving today. since the TT has no FX loop what is the best way of running the ZOOM board thru the TT without ruining the tube amp sound?
I have a separate MXR boost that i use to boost the distortion of the amp and then i just the delays and reverbs on the BOSS board i have now and i was thinking of doing the same thing with the ZOOM board..... Wanted to jump in here and see if anybody else was running a similiar configuration..

I feel like I still havent unlocked all that tube power from my amp.

Also to be clear the main reason i bought this ZOOM board is to be able to record.. I also have a line 6 amplify that i carry around when i go to my moms house to kill time there.

TT doesnt take effects very well, IMHO. They like boost and some clean digital delays, but thats about it.

The only way to use your zoom is to put it in front of your amp. It doesnt have a effect loop. I would try to have the cleanest sound possible out of your Terror; thats the way it will sound better with your zoom.

I see.... that makes sense and I also thought this would be the way to do it since thats how i used my boss ME-50.... I feel like sometimes the TT can sound a bit muddy even when not using the board and just the amp on its own. you think the tubes might need to be replaced? it still has the factory Chinese ones on... thanks for your help.,

The amp should n't be muddy and maybe the tubes could do with a change but how does it sound with the volume and gain turned up to 12 o'clock?

It's a shame to use the TT set clean as its the dirty crunch of the TT that the amp was made to do and excels at but you don't have too many options it your wanting to use effects. Personally I would turn gain to zero, turn volume to Max then dial in the gain control - this will give your cleanest sound.

I'd experiment with the amount of gain you can use with the effects -too much gain will make the sound messy.

60 dollars is amazingly cheap!!

Yeah. Tiny terror dont sound muddy on its own. It's maybe the tube or the cab you are playing with.

Thanks everyone for jumping in... so I connected the ZOOM board and it honestly sounds very cool...I aint using any of the cab or amp simulators of course and I first set the amp the cleanest I could and took the effects really well including the drives, Then i tried setting the amp to a more crunchy sound instead of clean and only used some of the boosters in the board lowering the gain and it just seems to boost the amp signal without changing the sound of it the actual amp... I own a MXR micro amp and also a boss over drive and I couldnt really tell the difference between the pedals and the board. The preset patches... some of them sound cheesy though... lol

I wonder how difficult it is to add an effects loop to a Tiny Terror?

There isn't much space inside the chassis. I believe it's doable, but the execution and choice of effect loop has to be considered.
