My Dual Dark is dead. Help needed...

Plugged my dd50 in for the first time since moving to Canada. Nothing. Dead. No power-on light, no noises, no hum, no smoke, no rattling. Tubes are in place. Checked both fuses and they seem fine. I had the switch set over to 120v and it still is. Tried different plugs cables in case that was it, nothing. The amp was flown here in a super strong flight case and the case seems to be in perfect shape with no scratches etc. I had plugged it into a surge protection power bar from Westinghouse that I just bought....now that power bar wont light up blue like it's supposed to. Ironically, my surge protector might be guilty of messing the amp up. What could be the problem here?

Have you tried it without the surge protector? Confirmed theres voltage going in the amp?

Yeah I tried it in several sockets with different power cords etc. Nothing happens. It didn't even make any sound or popping or smell when i turned it on....just lifeless

I wonder if the 120v taps aren’t wired correctly to the switch, or the switch is defective.

I took it to a guy I know, and that was his exact suspicion. Do you wanna know what it was? The pilot light bulb had burned out, and the amp was on the whole time! I was so bummed when the light didn't turn on and there was no humming, that I didn't even bother to try a guitar through it!

Well I've been tired from the move overseas and running around and such, so I get a pass this time....right? One thing he did say, which seems strange to me, is that I'll need a 3 ampere fuse now instead of the 1.6A that's in there to avoid blowing the present fuse because of the change from 240V to 120V. Does that sound right to you guys? Wouldn't that mean I'm letting double the juice run through my amp? He was referring to the one right where the plug goes into the back of the amp.

Yes, that sounds right. When I bought a Euro spec TV200 from Thomann, all I had to do to get it running on this end was change the mains fuse and throw the voltage switch -- and the fuse was included in the box.

Your guy is indeed correct, in fact in needs a 3.15 ampere fuse for 120v.

As per the manual:

Fuses:
Mains fuse (230V): T1.6A
Mains fuse (100/120V): T3.15A

HT fuse: T630mA

Yep. When volts go down, current goes up to provide the same power. Goodbto hear nothing is wrong with your amp.
