Tempted to buy a Rocker 30 - talk me in / out of it!!!
I've sold my JCM800 so I'm in the market for a new amp.
I like JCM800's, but they're too big, too powerful, (never got mine much over 2 on the volume!!) and they need a pedal in front unless you can hit the sweet spot.
Looking for something with a similar amount of of drive to the JCM800, able to hit the sweet spot without peeling paint off walls, and sounds good for rock, punk, garage, NWOBHM, hardcore, I play a les paul. It'd be great if I can get something like a solo boost with a pedal in front too.
I've seen a rocker 30 head locally.
For a bit of fuin, talk me in or out of it!!

Either buy it or tell me where it is and I'll buy it..... Yes I am after one and yes I also live in county Durham.
Just buy it... If you don't like it sell it for the same money.
I've owned 2 combos and the dirty channel is outrageously good , I've only just sold a month or so ago the second combo because I've looking for the head version as I much prefer using my 212 vertical zilla cab.
On second thoughts.... The dirty channel is aweful..... it's a terrible Amp you'll hate it ......the head versions are rubbish, you'd best look out for the combo....

It's weird, it looks like Orange haven't been selling so many R30 heads overall. I've got the R30on permanent eBay search still (god knows why - do I really need 2???), heads hardly ever come up for sale. I got really lucky to find mine.

I saw an R30 with a black headshell listed locally, I was so tempted, if only it had an fx loop. Too bad they don't make an R32 in a head, I'd be seriously looking at one of those.

You can always retro fit an FX loop (in theory).
I've just almost fully assembled my loop the other day. I need more time to take measurements, and drill the holes. Then remove the R30 main board, remove the phase inverter cap, and tap the signal there.
Also need to get the power too from somewhere, probably after the 1st RC filter.
In theory it should work fine. Jondog has done it successfully on a few rockers.
That's my FX loop circuit. It will have a bypass switch too.

Great amp! sure it's plenty loud but won't make your ears bleed when cranked.
I use the dirt channel exclusively, often in stereo with the clean channel on a fuchs blackjack. Good gawd I can get lost in that tone.
Good luck in your tone quest.

That looks great! I cant do my own electronic work I'd have to find out what it would cost to have it done, good for you to be able to do it yourself!Les Paul Lover wrote: ↑Fri May 04, 2018 9:14 pm
