PPC212V.. yay or nay?..

Post by Mystic38 » Wed Jan 24, 2018 3:14 pm

I was REALLY excited when i saw this...

then its 15mm ply, and only 14" wide.. so this only fits the terror amps... not full size heads, or even the OR15...

ugh.. anyone else deflated?

I think they have the dimensions wrong. They have it a 14” wide, but looking at the back theres a 12” speaker in there with a lot of empty space beside it, at least 6”. Then the sides of the cab take up a few inches. Needs 21" width for a full size head, looks close to that. Would be a major fail if they didn't make it wide enough.

2x12 vertical cab is a great idea they are brilliant....surely it's going to fit a full size head??....l mean it's not as if they are that wide anyway.

Perhaps it's a signature model to go along with the BHT?

see your point on the dimensions.. it looks like a diagonal setup as the centre of one speaker lines up with the edge of another..
so thats (say) 18" min..plus 1.25" for the ply.. so even a 1" on the short side of the baffle would give > 21"..or, allow it to be exactly the same as a full size head..

some relief in sight!..lol

and totally agree on total fail if it doesnt fit a full size head..

Nice, I've been wanting a Orange vertical 2x12 for a long time! ...but the price, ouch.. it's more than the Brent Hinds head. I guess thats because its made in England.

Metric specs say 54.5 cm wide. A standard headshell is 55 cm so about 1/5 inch narrower than perfekt. Don't understand why they would do that but I could probably live with it.

Hey you’re right, it’s 21.5” wide according to the metric measurements. I’m the worst Australian ever for only checking the imperial.

I'm pretty sure this is marketed to the army of micro heads on offer. People with regular size heads have plenty of other options in Orange land. The only thing appealing to me is the weight considering it looks to be as small as possible, and contain neo speakers.

Yeh - just a smidge too small for a full Orange head for me: I like the cab to be a little wider than the head.

I agree it seems a strange move (commented this on the other 212V thread too) which I can only assume is to keep the 4x12 as the best choice for the full heads.

Wide enough for the OR15, though, right? I reckon that could well be pretty awesome and I was gonna go for that until I found a second hand AD30HTC for just a little more. :)

I have had mine (paired with an OR15) for one week now. The Neo-Creambacks were a pleasant surprise. They feel much warmer, and more forgiving than Vintage 30s. In addition, I was pleased to discover an increase in bottom end and presence when compared to the Mesa 1X12 ob cab I was formerly using. With 5e OR15, im able to dial in a great classic rock tone, which is exactly what I was looking for. There wasn’t much information online about this cabinet, and I felt some hesitation ordering it, but am glad I did.
