I get that it's a digital/ analog converter, but I don't quite understand its application. What would this be used for?

To me it looks like it puts your digital software into your pedal chain to the amp?? I’m somewhat interested because I have the oringinal iRig phone adapter I was thinking of upgrading to the HD version.

They explain that in the video. It's an audio interface that can both recieve singles from your pedalboard and send them to your computer for processing (in a DAW, for example) or recieve signals from the computer and play them through the device (through your amp) on the pedalboard, in real time.

This is a very interesting product from Orange. There's more details on the website linked in the video. https://orangeamps.com/omec-teleport

I could see a lot of interest in this due to it's form factor and plug-and-play design with computers and mobile devices.

I played through it at the Orange house over NAMM. It's cool but I couldn't see a use for it....

They were probably too embarrassed by the fact it wasn't 15w and didn't have any EL84 in it.

i was looking at specs and it's only 16 bit! no way. i think it should at least be 24 bit @ 44.1 or 48khz. i could care less about wanting it to be 96khz and i am not even sure people can tell the difference between 96khz and 48khz if it's recorded in the same bit depth. but people can tell the difference between 16 and 24 bits @ 44.1, 48 or even 96khz. i literally almost bought it today from sweetwater until i saw it was 16 bit. :?

maybe there is something i am missing as to why it is 16bit and not 24bit? other than that i could see a lot of uses for it. and unless you're the kind of gigging musician that absolutely has to haul gear around and show off your amps it would be perfect for gigging or touring you wouldn't need to haul around any amps and could go direct to board which most sound guys (or ladies) are going to love.

Latency. 24/96 requires more than triple the bandwidth of 16/44, and even 24/44 (which i've never heard of anyone doing) still doubles the overhead. The Transport is advertised as an extremely low latency device.

16/44 has been the CD standard for years and i'm sure most people are completely fine with that, and if you're the kind of person who's not, odds are you already have a preferred recording interface with more inputs and more features. This is for "drop in and go" recording and for mixing Amplitube/DAW/etc. type effects live on your board.

that's why i said i could care less about 96khz. i know about the bandwidth issue. with that being said i'd like to see 24 bits @ 44.1 or 48, or at least the option of. not sure it could be done in this format but maybe. i know they are trying to make it work for the majority of people out there.

i'd say 16 bit is fine for live but for recording not so much. ideas maybe or just to mess around with but i wouldn't record something serious at a 16 bit depth rate. so yeah that may just be me. :)
