Why no orange 2x15?

Post by murkofaeons » Mon Mar 12, 2018 10:32 pm

Orange used to make a 2x15. I'm guessing they don't make one now because 2x15s aren't as popular (as 8x10s).

Yeah people seem to either want fridges or lightweight neo cabs that can be carried one handed these days.

I own the OBC810 and it is fantastic. I actually sold my two OBC115 cabs to help fund it. As amazing as the dual OBC115 cabs sounded I just didn't like lugging two seperate cabs around. The 810 is just easier to move as one unit.

If they made an diagonal OBC215 with neo speakers that was 24" wide, no more than 40" high, and under 75lb, I'd be all over it.

The 2X15 they used to make was a reflex cabinet, as big or maybe bigger than the 8X10. People don't use reflex cabs anymore, at least no one I've seen...

A friend of mine has an acoustic 18" folded horn cab that he used to use with a 2x15 and it was great but yeah just a standard 2x15 would be good

Well, there's one sale!

If you were in the Boston area I'd direct you to the guy who made speaker cabinets For Johnny A. He's really good...

He made some "Marshall" 4X10 cabs for John that were just killer! And the backs of them have a cutout so they can be turned around and still have sound coming out. The cutout is in the shape of the fleur de lis that's the inlay of the headstock on the Gibson Johnny A. model. Super cool!

I know a guy here in Phoenix who makes some badass cabinets. His logo is super cool as well. I just don’t think he’d be okay with me gluing orange tolex all over it.
