Just thought, when i got my oranges i put the info on the " Free Online Registration of your Orange Amplifier" thing.
Have you actually used any of the info from that. basically what was the point of it?

When I first created that form I had all these great visions of sending out news letters, rebate rewards, vouchers for discounts on merchandise and all sorts of related things... Unfortunately I was a bit premature and we just haven't had the man power to initiate it. The next stage is to get the website redesigned. Once that is in place and being regularly updated we'll start to become more pro-active with our customer base.

In terms of the website, I'd love to hear your comments and ideas... Now is the time to shout out what you want!

On the whole website thing, have you got any real anti-thoughts on a section of the forum used for buying / selling etc... of "orange" things, as people do it anyway (even though its against forum rules) it would be good to have it away from the "community discussions"

Also another thing going around recently is having a FAQ section, a place were FAQ on the forum and to Orange, can be answered - im sure this would eliminate quite a few phone call's to the H/Q

Hi Jason, there is much confusion with ohms. Can we hook up 2x8 ohm cabs in the 2x8 ohm outs on the amps? Several of us have combos with 2x16 ohm V30's (8 ohm cab), are we able to add an ext cab at all? If not, why were these combos loaded with these speakers?

Hi Jason.
Thanks a lot for your responses.
Do you know how the Rocket 30's lower gain channel compares to the 50 you mentioned? I can see the bigger ones having a massive sonic impact, giving a lot of clean volume to do what you want with in terms of front end / loop effects. From what you say though we are talking SERIOUSLY LOUD before they really start to crunch up?
A 112 30w. Orange combo with a stripped to basic channel, staying clean as loud as it goes then crunching up meatily, would be really mouth watering to my way of thinking though. I know that a lot of folk would buy it for that alone, even without the hi gain channel! I've got big hopes for that wee 30 watter you know.

Re the modelling thing, that was really interesting. I liked that the 'Pod People' were trying but failing to model the AD! In a way it's both cheering - shows just how unique the Orange sound really is (which we already know of course!), and a bit of a shame too. I can understand their problems though, it being probably much easier to realistically model higher gain sounds, as there is far less dynamic range involved then we here are used to playing about with.
It'll maybe happen before very long. A couple of digi-gens. away?
(Methinks: Have I just invented a new unit of time?.
Probably not! )

Re Wartys ? above, you might want to check out this recent topic. Seems like a few folk have had this issue:
http://www.orangeamps.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1256

Q. I understand that Celestion have recently stopped making all but a few of their guitar speakers in the UK. And that some Eminence drivers seem to have been sighted in the US Oranges. Are you getting some different stuff over there from UK spec, or is this a different issue? Are you able to give your own take on the Celestion position? (Hope so.)

Oh, and I think Billy really should get those well cool wings. (Don't quite know about the title, but Nice One Dave!)

Cheers,
Andy H.

When Celestion decided to move all their manufacturing to China it sent ripples throughout the industry. Celestion are such a big player it shocked a lot of people. Surprisingly enough though, the transition went almost un-noticed by the general public. I believe the Orange UK factory actually hired some of the old Celestion employees.

Unfortunately, the move caused production delays. That, in turn, set our production back. Eminence came up with a Vintage 30 "inspired" speaker that sounded so awesome, we decided to go ahead and offer two versions of our 4X12 and 2X12 speaker cabinets in the USA. The Eminence affords consumers a significant saving over the Celestion and allows us to compete with some of the more generic cabinets on the market. Of course many people prefer the Celestion.

In terms of the debate on China vs. UK quality, that's something that I can't really help with! If you ask a thousand people, you'll get a thousand different answers! The truth? Probably somewhere in between them all. I'm sure there were some bad speakers coming out on China to begin with, but then that's the nature of manufacturing! You will always have some quality issues to begin with. It's how you go about fixing them that separates the quality manufacturers from the maximum profit driven ones! I can tell you though that we have a very low failure rate on both Celestion and Eminence speakers. In fact I can count the whole of this year's bad speakers on my fingers!

quote:

I should have clarified... What about the new AD series amps???

The last four digits of the AD series serial numbers tell you the month and year it was made. For example 1564-06-03 was built during June 2003 (O6-03).

Seems reasonable!

Another question, have you got any idea when the new site will be ready?
Also do you think you could put sound clips of the amps on the site, i know Billy has done some good ones of the amps he's got, but i think alot of people would find a few sound clips (different gain levels etc...) off each Orange amp really useful on their search for the "orange for them",(if someone could do the same lic/song on each amp then people could compare the sounds and choose), by being on this site i know of a few people that have “purchased before they had heardâ€

Jason, recently purchased the Rockerverb 50 combo and love it! Was wondering what the Hi/Low Output Damping switch is for? Thanks.

Thanks again for your answers Jason. It's really great to get this sort of feedback!

That's fair enough then. I guess anyone coming across any such new posts should reply with a (polite!) reminder, such as:

I just checked in here after a couple of weeks away, and this new development is very encouraging. It's great to see renewed involvement of Orange folks on this web site.

As for the design of the site, I think downloadable manuals and schematics, sound clips, and FAQs would be the most important additions. I'm looking forward to it.
