Micro Terror is loud!

Post by mj6thbuif » Mon Feb 05, 2018 7:29 pm

I've been bringing my MT to band practice lately and have yet to set the thing above 1 on the volume knob. Gain at noon. Kind of playing with the idea of taking this thing to my next gig. What's nice is that it fits nicely in my pedalboard bag.

i agree. louder than what i would have thought. i have ran mine through an eminence lady luck loaded 1x12 rated at 70 watts and it was loud enough to keep up with my heavy handed drummer no problem whatsoever. sounds better going through my 4x12 though. it may be rated at 20 watts but that is louder cranked than people realize.

Micro Terror on 1 is loud enough for band practice? Do you have a drummer and bass player? :P

They are incredible are n't they! Considering the price and size.I borrowed a friend's a couple of weeks ago and used it through my vertical openback 2x12 and couldn't believe the volume and sound .....let's be fair though it's not compatible with a good though amp.....costing 10 times more!

My thoughts exactly. I'm guessing that he means "1 o'clock" on the volume dial.

"1 on the volume knob" means the first notch to me. 1 o'clock is different. I guess we will never know haha

He said "gain at noon", so I lean toward volume at "1 o'clock".

On my MT, with the gain at noon and the volume at the first notch, the sound from my strings is louder than the sound from my speakers. But it increases quickly and drastically above that.

Here in my apartment I run two 16 ohm speakers in series (32 ohms total) to knock the output down to 2.5 watts. And with the gain at noon I can't turn the volume above 9:30 o'clock without bothering the neighbors.

All the more reason I assume he meant "1 o'clock".

at 1 on mine it is louder than my strings. i have it set to halfway between zero and 1 on the volume and gain at about 3 o'clock for normal bedroom practice. and it is still louder than my strings. running it into a 4x12 and also have a genalex gold lion 12ax7 tube in it. that tube is about as high gain a 12ax7 you can get and i think one of the best sounding as well. i much prefer it over jj's or ruby's. though i have ruby's in my randall. regardless they are damn loud amps for the size and the wattage.

Yes, a 16 ohm or 8 ohm 412 will be significantly louder than my 32 ohm 212.

If I was running a lower impedance load mine would be louder at the first notch than my strings too. My point was that at the first notch it's at bedroom practice level, not band level.

(I've got a NOS GE in mine -- made it a bit louder and better sounding than the stock tube.)

yeah i didn't much like the stock tube much myself. i even think my sovtek wa sounded better than it. but after putting the gold lion in i was settled.

Nope, I meant 1, not 1:00. Granted we don't have an overly loud drummer. But yes it's a full band, pop/rock type stuff, bass, drums, keyboards, two singers.

Yeah, it's pretty loud, especially if you have the gain higher than 9 o'clock and use some loud cab(s). Or maybe it's some weird taper, it's louder on 2 or 3 than my 50 watt all valve amp.
