Congrats! Good article!

I've been thinking about writing another piece but just haven't gotten around to it.

So after reading your article, I have a guitar you have to try: a Gibson Johnny A. Signature. It's not a semi-hollowbody but a true hollowbody, but what's interesting about it and what separates it from other hollowbodies is the way the back is carved: while the one piece back is curved on the backside, on the inside it's carved flat. This solves the ag-old issue of true hollowbodies howling with feedback as the top and back vibrate. This thing is a true rock and roll machine - it gets those typical Gibson rock sounds but has its own voice as well. It's arguably the best hollowbody Gibson makes (and I'm not totally biased even though JA is a close friend of mine). It's also the most successful custom shop guitar Gibson has ever made.

The other cool thing is, it's the first totally new design Gibson has produced since the Trini Lopez in the 60's, unlike the Grohl which is just a tweaked 335 or any of the Les Pauls that Slash, Jimmy Page, etc., have lent their name to - it's not a new design but the JA is. He was hands-on with every aspect of it from the design to the inlays to the way the pickguard's curve goes right into the shape of the A-holes. (yep... that's what he calls them  )

And you should hear it through an Orange!

Thanks Billy!

I have seen them but haven't had a chance to get my hands on one to date. I look on the used market time to time just to see if I can snag one. I will def keep my eyes open a bit more now based on your words.

I think it's incredibly cool that Orange asked certain the members of the forum to contribute to the blog. All of the posts from the members have been great, and yours is no exception. Keep up the good work.
