It's definetly deeper than lacquer, looks like paint and wood also. It doesn't seem to move and if I push hard enough it closes up.
I can do the glue trick myself but wanted to ask should I fill it then clamp it flat and leave for a while or juse leave as is to dry. Can buff the lacquer after myself easy enough.
Tried the plastic rectangle trick just for cosmetic purposes and it looks horrible imo. Will upload the pic soon.

Re: New guitar day plus questions
I found a sg scratchplate on eBay without bridge holes and he sent me measurements and they look pretty close so might give that a shot. It can be returned if unsuitable so best to try first.

Ha! If the cosmetics are improved by clamping then there's a benefit in doing so. If not, I would be inclined not to clamp as it might be that all you would do is introduce further strains which would put the glue seam under tension once the clamps were removed.Mrjones2004x wrote:It's definetly deeper than lacquer, looks like paint and wood also. Of course - opinions will vary.
That plastic part does look to be something of an acquired taste!

Re: New guitar day plus questions
I'd clamp so that the wood glue really gets a grip....

If you glue the wood, you've got to clamp it.

Re: New guitar day plus questions
I like distressed as some of you know but with all the pretty binding, inlays and gold I don't think it would work.
Just waiting on a scratchplate now and looking into pots and caps etc.
So far just removed the cream guards and middle pickup. Looks 100% better already but that personal taste of course
And now the middle pup has gone I can play it easier lol. I found when I'm playing solo notes I hook my ring and little fingers on bottom string as an anchor point only moving when playing that string hence why middle pickup felt in the way.
Semi naked shot.....

Re: New guitar day plus questions
First mod finished.
Nearly a perfect fit just very slight adjustments needed and done
A question regarding pot values also as this is next.
It looks to have 500k tone and volume like normal hums. This guitar seems extremely bright, there is some thickness and warmth in there but I'm having to run my treble on amp on 4 same as my telecaster but I also need tone pots about half to three quarters down to tame the bite.
What would you recommend in this case? 300k? Diffewnt tone/pot combos?
I'm not changing pickups as not throwing much into the guitar so pots need to match these pickups
Cheers

Yes go for 300k volume pots, this is the solution I apply on trebly guitars.Mrjones2004x wrote:...

Yes, 300 or 250k - 250k is standard value on Les Paul outside of the Custom range.
