NPD - POD HD500X
Here it is! It's a bit of a gamble... Hope I can make decent tones out of it.

Thought about one of these myself but I've got a thing about multi-fx units (really should do something about it)! Looks the part mind and jesperbc seems very happy with his!
If it's TOO loud...you're TOO old!!!

First test. I now remember why I did abandon multi effect units (though it was 20 years ago)... I've only played through headphones and there are some decent presets but this thing needs some serious tweaking...
An interesting thing is that I realize that Orange amps have made me a better player. The POD practically plays itself.

Darn menu diving! I wish Apple had done the software... I guess I have to connect it to my Mac to get some sort of order in the tweaking.

Re: NPD - POD HD500X
Thanks mate! Today I've connected the pod to my MacBook and made some tweaking. It's far easier when you have visual access to all the parameters on the computer screen. There is a lot of options...

Re: NPD - POD HD500X
I think that the ability to program it through a computer is the key to making a multi-effects pedal worthwhile. I would gladly gig with one - especially in a cover band - if it was reasonably straightforward to program satisfactory patches for specific songs/tones. The concept of running straight through the PA and monitors without lugging around an amp and cab is very appealing.

Re: NPD - POD HD500X
I've got the standard HD500...
Quick tip: it's going to sound verrrry different through headphones / laptop speakers to your PA, so it's worth having a diddle with it hooked up to your desk and PA rig one day. I spent an afternoon dialling in some patches with my old AD30 next to me, and by the time I was done, you'd have a hard time telling the difference unless you really knew your valve amps.
They're great tools for keeping stage volume & setup time down.
Other tip if you haven't already tried it is to do the dual amp rig thing - one clean, one dirty. Some pretty great sounds right there. I liked blending the /13 amps with the Fender or Hiwatt cleans.

Re: NPD - POD HD500X
Thanks for the tips, man! I have a small PA system in my Cave so I always test the patches before bringing it to the rehearsal studio. I've never tried the dual amp feature though. But I will for sure.irish_admiral wrote:I've got the standard HD500...

Re: NPD - POD HD500X
Congrats! I have one of those as well. There are some great videos on youtube showing some deep editing features....I haven't had a chance to get into that yet, but there is a way to pull out those annoying frequencies in the presets that makes them sound so much better! I was going to post a link on that but I can't find the dang video!
I gigged with mine many times - Its great for a quick grab and go setup,I use in ear monitors anyhow so I don't need a stage sound! I have since gone back to my regular amp so I can put the HD500x back in my rehearsal space and tinker with it. Im not up on this stuff like many of you are and the learning curve has been a little more than I expected. its not the equipment its me lol.
