I DID IT! - NAD

Post by Beexter » Wed Jan 21, 2015 11:15 pm

Well after considering the Dual Terror or Rocker 30 for my first Orange amp and then trying to decide between a head or a combo, I'm now a member of the club and have just got home after collecting this little beauty.....

It's in mint condition but it's too late to give it some stick tonight....roll on tomorrow!

Thanks to everyone that's helped me to get here.

I use an oversize 1x12 cab fitted with an Eminence Wizard which is 'kin loud! It works great with my 50w Vox Nightrain head & should work well with the Orange.
The cab is great as it can be switched to open or closed back with a removable panel on the back.

Oh man, congrats! You're gonna love it. I've had mine for years and even now it still manages to show different sides to it (different bands, different setups and all). And if you get the chance... Natural channel after 3pm until dimed is awesome.

I'm well chuffed. Condition wise it looks as good as new. Can't wait to try it out with my own gear at home tonight! Of course, what I really want to do is get into a rehearsal room so I can properly let rip!

Thanks for all the advice I had from the forum here that helped my arrive at the decision.

hey congrats on the r30.

I've had mine for all of 3 weeks now and have luxury of being able to crank it everyday. the natural channel has disproportionately less volume than the dirt channel so I've been sort of avoiding it. but due to the responses here I'm gonna throttle it up as soon as I get home. straight up tho I miss the clean channel on the th30. but the dirt channel on the R30 is epic.

rock on

I'd really recommend cranking the natural on full and giving it some humbucker action - don't avoid it, give it some love!

And some users have found the clean channel to be able to match the dirty channel volume but only when using a clean boost type pedal.

So it can match the dirty channel volume with outside help. :)

Congrats! Great-looking amp -- hopefully I'll have the opportunity to try one some day, they seem to be a favorite of many forum users.

Orange doesn't still make these, do they?

Congrats! Great amp, hope you can make the natural channel work for you!

Nope, sorry to say they don't. But they pop up on the used market often enough if you keep an eye open. In my case, I even found one new at a store a couple years ago. They had marked it way down since it was discontinued.
