Any other AD140 Lead ie single channel users out there? I'd like to know what speakers you're using, and some settings that work with different guitars. Right now I'm using an early 90s Orange 4-12 with G12T75s that works real well with my midrange heavy vintage OR120s, but not as well with my AD140 (although it does work real well if I add pedals). What tubes sound good with this amp, and what is a good bias setting (using current draw ie mA per tube). Thanks.

Well I see a lot of people have read this, but no replies, so maybe there aren't too many people using this amp. Anyway I've been working with it quite a bit, and find that using guitars with lower output pickups and using the low input seems to work better. I'm liking the amp more and more. It doesn't really sound like an OR120, but has it's own sound that is very versatile. In fact I'm beginning to agree with the review in Guitarist magazine. Hope to hear from other users <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

... I'm a AD140 single-channel owner!!!! :)
use it for 4 months now and it's great!
still waiting for my first gig with this amp... [:p]

>>>and find that using guitars with lower output pickups and using the low input seems to work better<<<
hmm.. I'm using Gibson '57 classics and always go for the high-input on the amp. I'll boost the amp with a RCbooster and a TS9keeley. roll down the guitar-volume for cleaner sounds.
I don't know anything 'bout biasing (don't do that myself), my amp is running with JJ's.
speakers: Vintage30.

but he! :) you've got a OR120 also! I'd like your amp-duo! :)

I have #33 and I think it's incredible. In fact, I feel it's too incredible for me.
It legit rips when you push it close to its threshold. I normally run it through an avatar cab with
V30 clones, or an old ampeg v4 cab. It's very versatile, super high headroom, super
Good for low droned out riffing, good for incredibly clean but loud ambient effect possibilities...

I for real could go on about how cool this amp is, but it would be annoying. I'm just stoked
That I stumbled across people that even know about this deafening box of potential.

it's really an incredible amp. I'm amazed that I actually own it.

Happy for you, but answering a 9 years old post as a first contribution there is maybe not the best way to start.

Welcome to the forum!

Very few made so very few owned. This is a REALLY old thread! I have the twin channel version and I run it through a vintage Orange 4X12 loaded with V30's. Or direct through a Marshall Speaker Emulator SE100....

Yes, welcome to the forum!

Congratulations on the amp. It isn't one that comes up here too often right enough. Enjoy! :D

Welcome aboard!!

I think you should make your own thread...... and put plenty pictures in it!!!!!
We like gear pictures. :D And Katy Perry pictures too. The odd IPA picture is plenty acceptable too. ;)

Tell how you got it, how long, and what you do with it! (so long as permissible by the law in your own country of course.....!)

Jesus Christ I'm an idiot. I Didn't even notice the date on the thread.

I'll post some pictures in a new thread in a couple of weeks, I'm actually considering letting it go.

Nothing wrong with the odd spot of necrobumping so long as you dont make it a multiple times a day habit!!!

DO NOT LET IT GO. You well regret it forever. And ever. And that's quite a long time to regret something really.
