in my experience, much nicer. I never liked the 498 and usually replaced it with an SD or a 500T. Much better mid range response and tighter bottom end.

I'm allowed to think about getting new instruments. It is amps which are the problem for me...

Played a nice black LP Custom once. Bit pre Custom Shop, it was made in '56!
Wonderful thing to get to try out, it really did play like butter and sounded very very special too.

I stupidly sold a 1977 Gibson LP Custom that I purchased new in my late teens and sold it a few years ago.

What do you guys think; is it cool to keep the cream white frames around the PU's or should I replace them with the original black? I think the creams are kinda cool though I want it to look classic Custom-ish... And what about the gold knobs? I have the original blacks. Should I replace the golden ones?

I would black it out personally and change the hardware to chrome. I think that would look just awesome. black rings, black knobs (with the metal reflectors in the centre), black switch, black tail and heads, get a black super distortion. would look seeeeeeeeeeeexy


I'm going to do a similar on my Traditional. Black knobs/rings, get an TP6 tailpiece (gonna get one for the RD too).
