Micro Terror Question
So, I am the proud owner of the Micro terror, very proud actually. I also own a Mesa Boogie 20/20 and was wondering if there is a way I could run the Micro into the 20/20. Essentially I want to use the Micro as a preamp, if it is possible. Anyone have any idea if this can be done?

Re: Micro Terror Question
Can anyone help me with this?

Re: Micro Terror Question
While I don't know anything about the 20/20...from the manual and pictures I assume that it is just like any other power amp. I know you can use the Micro Terror as a preamp by using the headphone output. You would need the correct cables and adapters but it can be done. Sent mine straight to a cheap powered speaker before I had a legit speaker cab to play into. Hope this helps.
Re: Micro Terror Question
I was wondering about the headphone jack but is that safe to do? And is that the best option for tone? I will give it a try today, but if anyone has anything else to add I am all ears.

Re: Micro Terror Question
So I tried the headphone jack, and it worked great. But, is it safe to do? Is it the best option, tone wise? Is there something else I can try?

Re: Micro Terror Question
Yes, it is safe, it is the simplest and possibly the best option.
Re: Micro Terror Question
I guess by the simplest and best, you mean the least amount of work and the cheapest LOL!!! Thank you guys, it sounded great through the headphone jack but I was just wondering what other options I had out there. I really dig this amp and might actually try to use it as a preamp in my rig.jontheid wrote:Yes, it is safe, it is the simplest and possibly the best option.

Re: Micro Terror Question
Hello. I wanted to try using my Micro Terror as a preamp as well by going from headphone out to insert jack on my Crate GX1200H. Micro Terror tone at GX2200H volumes.eyesofthesouth wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2013 10:29 pmWhile I don't know anything about the 20/20...from the manual and pictures I assume that it is just like any other power amp. What cables and adapters would be needed?
Re: Micro Terror Question
If your Crate's "insert jack" is a normal 1/4" mono jack, no adapter needed. Just run a guitar cable from the MT headphone jack to the Crate's jack.
If by "insert jack" you mean a small jack for an iPhone/CD player/similar, you'll need a 1/4" female to male adapter. (The male plug will be whatever size the Crate's jack is -- usually 1/8" but I think there may also be one other size possible. Crate's manual should tell you.) Doesn't matter if the adapter is mono or stereo.

Re: Micro Terror Question
Thanks for the reply.
That crate has a input labeled insert. It’s an fx loop stereo input TRS 1/8”. It would be like a send and return fx loop with one jack.

1/4 inch input
Re: Micro Terror Question
Oh, one of those crazy single send+return jacks that needs a stereo Y splitter cable to connect effects.
You'll need to buy one of those cables -- TRS plug at one end, splitting off to two 1/4" mono plugs. The mono plugs will be labeled something like "send/effect input" and "return/effect output".
Plug the TRS end into the Crate. Plug the "return/effect output" into the MT's headphone jack.
You could make your own with a single cable, one TRS plug and one mono plug. But be very sure you have the center conductor of the cable hooked up correctly to the TRS plug. I'm not sure if the tip or the ring is the return (Crate manual should say). Running the MT headphone out to the Crate's preamp out might possibly damage both of them.

Re: Micro Terror Question
I checked the manual I found online. You are correct.
I’m going to build a pedal to do this. A looping pedal of sorts. Stereo in/out to crate and 2 mono send & return for pedals or micro terror.
This will allow all pedals on/off with 1 footswitch.
Bypassing crate preamp with MT.
I will post results
