micro POG + fuzz/distortion = good times.

I have tons of pedals but I like to keep it limited so I can focus more on my hands as I have a tendency to tap dance. Things usually rotate but this is what I usually come back to

In front
EB VPJR. - turn that pile of poop up/down!
TU3 - tune that pile of poop up! >
CAROLINE GUITAR COMPANY ICARUS BOOST - Boost that pile of poop up! >
OCD v4 Clone - Use this as my dirty boost. Switched to low gain >
BLACK ARTS PHARAOH - Clipping switch in the middle/bypassed for controlled wool.

Effects Loop
Strymon Flint - 70s reverb with medium decay / favorite switch set to 80's with almost infinite decay
Strymon Timeline - @#$%GTDS^*&^%$#$ settings
DD-6 - Just use for the hold feature. Long delay, mid feedback so I can build ambiance in between songs

I will note that I use the reverb on my RV50MKII more than the Flint. I know, I know, I just like the amp verb too much!!

My board is set up to get what I need from any amp. I have three Marshalls, Orange RV50 and TTerror, Mesa Express 25, '61 Blonde Bassman..building a 40w Fender Deluxe..LOL. In the front I go with Maxon CP9Pro Compressor, Barber Trifecta Fuzz, Pigtronix Fat Overdrive, ZVex Box of Rock. In the Loop I go with Dano Cool Cat Trem and Chorus, MXR Carbon Copy delay, EBall VP Jr, and Korg Pitchblack Tuner.

I have everything from Clean Boost, mild OD, Marshall crunch to fuzz tones. And use some of the modultion on various songs, but sparsely used. Smallish board and flexible to cover most anything.

I highly encourage anyone who hasn't posted a picture of their pedalboard to do so in the stickied picture thread up top; I'd love to see them all! I just ordered some new cables and added a Voodoo PP2+ to mine, so I'll probably post a new picture when it's all together.

Volume:
Ernie Ball Volume Jr - use for swells, or to roll back the volume to clean it up a bit, and for muting my signal when swapping guitars

Tuner:
TC Polytune - for tuning of course. less LED noise than the Boss series tuners, easier to read in daylight

Compressor:
Diamond Compressor - very nice, not too much tone loss, great for tightening up the low end or making tight rhythm beats nice
and snappy

distorion:
Orange Foot Switch - for switching channels on my RV50. I have this as my primary drive, 1:00 on the dial, nice and crispy, but not fuzzy
Xotic RC Booster - hidding in my FX loop as the first pedal. Using it to help boost the signal and keep it going so I don't get volume drops
MXR 6 Band EQ - used as a "Fat Switch" for my distortion tones, just to give me more bottom end when I need it
Crowther Hot Cake - for just slightly overdriven tones. Just that light crunch, probably my lowest gain tone thats not clean. This has been a mainstay on my pedal board for 10 years, most transparent drive I've ever owned or tried.

Effects and toys:
EHX POG 2 - very important part of my tone. When the settings are right this thing is incredible, but when they are wrong...they are wrong. I have three settings I use a lot, first one is kind of like a 12 string effect, so a doubler in a way. The other two are what I call "evil organ" and "more evil organ". Takes my tone, turns it into an Organ, and just makes it sound like Draculla or something... its crazy
Retro Sonic Phaser I use this pedal less and less, but its still fantastic. Like a MXR Phase 90 with a volume and depth control. Used for a bit of swirly
Diamond Tremolo - tappable tremolo with multiple pattern settings, a ramp mode, and a manual mode. I use it all, a very effective pedal that I'm lost without
Dr. Scientist Tremoloessence mki - First generation of the Dr.'s Trem pedal, optical, and very unique. I have it set just right for one song... otherwise the Diamond would have replaced it. Used for a hard sharp pulsation.
Dr. Scienist Cosmichorus mkii - second generation, great for making whale song. Not very useful to me right now. may leave the board in the near future
Line 6 M9 - When you want more effects but just don't got the room or the money. I use this a lot for different filters, pitch shifting.... I have other volume based trem settings.... some reverse delay. neat stuff
Vox V847 Wah - What else do you do with a wah beside...wah stuff? Mines the Union Jack limited edition one, has been on my board longer than the Hot Cake

Delays
Line 6 DL4 - not using it for delay, but for live looping. Take a listen to "Minus the Bear - Drilling" for a good example of what inspired me to get this pedal and loop with it live. I don't do anything as cool as him... yet
Malekko 616 - nice analog delay with a buffer built in. Love the buffer to help with tone loss. The delay is set a bit long.
Maxon AD999 - classic bucket brigade delay, been on my board for countless years and still going strong. Shorter delay setting than the Malekko, but thats not the main reason I still use it... the main reason is how easily it goes into oscillation when you play with the oversized knobs!
Vox Time Machine - I have this set up perfect for layrering with the Dr. Sci trem. I have these two in unision to create a unique effect that kind of sounds like a mechanical machine running. I'ts pretty neat. But I also use it to tap in some other tempos.

I don't think I missed anything.... P.S., 6 songs, each pedal gets used 2-3 times throughout the whole set. Once we finish recording, I'll share with you all and you can tell me if we are overboard?
Eh, eh 4 delays??? I sure look forward to listen to your recordings!!!

On the delay front, what do you think of the time machine? Another one high on mu want list. I see you don't seem to use tap tempo on your delays?

like your toys and effects section!!! Another POG user I see? Defo need to look what that one does!

hehee yea, 4 delays.

Keep in mind it's really only 3 as the DL Modeler is being used for looping and sampling only, not for the delays. the Time Machine is fantastic, I keep thinking of replacing it with something else, but I'm quite happy with it. It sounds good, its durable (Aside from the battery door...that things missing somewhere...) and its got multiple modes which is kinda cool, even though I never use them. The Empress Tape Tap Delay is incredibly enticing though....

The POG is awesome. Its an octave pedal you can play chords with! It's great... 12 string tones? Organs? just unique stuff? yea, its rad. I wish it had an overall output level control though... because it can get a lil out of control.

Finally got around to taking a pic of my non Bad Monkey board. You know, what I use as a back up in case the Monkey sludge is too thick.

Image

Gitar (according to OrangePaul :P )
-> Line 6 G30 - To go wireless
-> Polytune - To tune my Polies
-> Strymon Mobius (Pre) - I prefer some of my Mobius settings early in the chain (Filters). These are settings like my vibe and auto-wah
-> Fulltone OCD -> Catalyst - Rhythm dirt for various songs. I've never really been a big fuzz guy as I struggle to like it when it's just me, but in the band mix I've come to love it!
-> Suhr Riot - Rhythm distortion. It knocked a Wampler Sovereign off the board pretty quick. Very impressive.
-> Zendrive - Bridge pickup lead boost. Great compression and smooth grind.
-> Original Budda Wah - For Hendrix/funk/interesting solos and I actually prefer the dirt pedals before my wah.
-> Mobius (Post) - Modulation effects like chorus, phaser, flanger, and even tremolo.
-> Strymon El Capistan w/favorite switch - I have a tendency to get lost in the band since I almost exclusively play single coil guitars so I don't use reverb ever live. But I set the El Cap to get 1-1.5 repeats around 100 or 200ms. Think of a very light slapback. It's one of those subtle nuances that you notice more when you turn it off than when you have it on. Then I'll kill the favorite to get longer, moderately mixed 5-7 repeats in tempo. Usually for texture in a solo but occasionally in rhythm.
-> EP booster - To boost my EPs (and clean solos :D )

And I run it all with a Voodoo labs 4x4 (hand to swap out the PP2+ when I got the Mobius)

And yes, that is orange George L patch cable with alternating black and white end caps...... I am that nerdy.

I'd like some info on the tonal quality of the altoids, please. How are the mids? Is the treble ice-picky, or more minty smooth?

Polyphonic octave generator. I have the simple Micro Pog myself.

EH wonder weapon. Adds a high +/or low octave (8ve) to your signal. You can blend how much of each.

'Polyphonic' as it doesn't just work on single notes, but on full chords too. Unlike most 8ve generators the tracking is also very good indeed. Pretty much unique that way.

Sounds can be subtle or nuts. You can get 12 stringish sounds with just a little high 8ve added, some ridiculous 'church organ' type sounds with both high and low 8ves, especially if you use volume swells. But you can also use these subtly just for tone enhancement. Some of the biggest and best distorted sounds I've ever had have been with a bit of very subtle POG tone enhancement, literally just using it as a sort of strange extra low and high EQ.

Various versions. Vids here:

Guitar -> Boss TU-2 -> Orange Rocker30

Sometimes I throw in a ZW Wah or a Phase90, if I'm in a non-lazy mood, which almost never happens...

Oh yeah, and being in tune.
That pic is awesome!!!

My board goes like this...
Korg Pitchblack Tuner
Analogman TS9 - gain & tone around 9 o'clock, I like this for in between pickups on my strat, great for chords & riffs
Catalinbread SFT - a big clean boost with varying degrees of OD. Great for goosing a loud, verge of breakup amp
Catalinbread DLS MK 3 - my main dirty tone, in the Super Bass mode. Warm, fat, rich. Works on a clean amp only.
EH memory toy - short warm analog delay, the preamp is "special". Even with no delay this pedal does something. I don't use it very often, in fact I have taken it out of the signal chain lately.
Flashback X4 - I use it for a DMM sound, Echoplex sound, Chorus, and a Reverb

That is how I run it for my Fender Twin and my Super, those are my main amps. When I use my TT, I use only the SFT and the Flashback X4.

I just have an EHX Small Stone and an EHX Small Clone, plus my '69 Crybaby.....I feel inadequate suddenly. I don't even ever use them really.
