TH100/30 owners brace yourselves!!!

Post by richardfirebird » Wed Nov 21, 2012 1:44 am

Are here any owners of the TH series in here? I don't find many :(
Many people don't like very much the th100/30 series is it true?

TH owners are starting to pop up here more frequently now. I wouldn't say many people don't like them, just not their style as it's not exactly a traditional Orange type amp. I didn't get along with it. I like the clean channel on it.

I fell in love with the dirty channel when the gain's between 10 and 2 o'clock, I just loved it.

However, lately I've been playing it in band context, mostly clean with a full hollowbody guitar and I can't believe how good it sounds clean or slightly overdriven with a LOUD drummer... Just amazing thought my diagonal 2x12.

I'm even chosing it over my Rocker 30 so far for that particular band.

It's been trashed a lot over here mostly, as been said, because it isn't geared to dish-out the traditional Orange tones found elsewhere in the line... I do think it can but, not as well as other amps in the line...fine with me.

It's a very good amp for what it is. I don't feel like I need to defend why I like it this much, even owning a Rocker 30 hasn't dimmed my love of this amp (and the R30 is indeed a great amp for sure).

Yeap, when I tried the TH30 that clean channel was A LOT of fun - it got into break up territory quickly and VERY nicely!
The dirty channel is on the fizzy side for sure - but it's good too.

A cool amp indeed!

It is modern sounding, and I guess Orange is known to be a very retro sounding brand I expect. Variety is good though!

I fricken love my TH30. So simple and straight to the point, yet extremely versatile.

yesterday i just jam with my guitar player that as a Marshall Jvm410 and took like half an hour just to set it right with a good sound and I was like plug and play and a kick ass sound coming from my guitar!!!
It's a great amp but it's a bit sad not many people like it

I´m a proud owner of the TH-30 and it suits me really good. It´s loud enough for rehearsal and gigs, sounds good and has tone of it´s own, I think. I sometimes miss the lack of control for the midrange on either channel, but then again, it like the simplicity of it.

I´m thinking of getting a Rockerverb too, to have another kind of sound to chose from and it would be nice to own another Orange head anyway ;)

For the price you get a really good amp with nice and simple features. In that price range it´s either a Orange TH-30 or a Peavey Classic 30 ( a totally different amp , though) that will give you that kind of satisfaction, IMO.

I'm not sure so many "hate" it. It is probably misunderstood. I do think some fear the shape knob. Any Orange is better than no Orange.

I love my TH30 - suits me very well. The gain channel satisfies my lust for meaty chugging (lol) while the clean channel is a thing of beauty, if a tiny bit boomy at times.

yeah, i'm one of the more outspoken critics of it, but i certainly don't hate it. i just think the overall trend of Orange moving away from classic sounding amps and more towards more modern amps like the TH30 and the new OR15/Jim Root (not to mention the DkT) will be bad business in the long run for orange, and i'd love to see them focus once again at what they're good at (as most people looking for a great metal amp still don't have Orange on their short list for the most part, at least not when compared against Mesa, Peavey, etc)

That's a valid point well made, but I think what Orange are doing is trying to move with the musical times. Truth is that guitar music has, and continues to demand more gain and versatility and Orange are just trying to meet that demand. As a Brit I'm very proud of them!

I've had mine for about3months and its nice. We use it at low volume mostly on 7watt inside the spare bedroom for messing around when you want to learn and not get loud. But it seems to have plenty on tap for much more possibilities. It's everything I thought it was when shopping for a small-medium size amp. So far it's really impressive! Absolutely no regrets here.its the TH30 head with 1x12PPC

I bought it after my Peavey XXL head broke down. I chose to go with Orange because I never see them in my area and I wanted something different. The first time I played an Orange amp was the day mine arrived in the mail. Best impulse buy of my life. How long have you had yours and what made you go with the TH100?
