And the OCD if you want real overdrive. The combination OCD and EP Booster (in that order) really gives me a heavy tone with, still, lots of transparancy and a fair amount of punch. For a fifteen watt amp with a 1x12, that is.

Grtz, Bert.
This is how I set up my TT for live use. I always run the OCD at 18v and the EP boosterswitcher 9v or 12v. I don't like it at 18v. It sounds too sterile.

I've actually gives with just the TT and the EP as well and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

I use a Way Huge Green Rhino with my Fender DRRI and Fender Blues Junior "Silver Noir" Limited Edition(with Eminence Governour speaker).

Very Versatile with tone-knob + 100Hz and Contour (Midboost) knob !!
Contour is very subtle but noticable, 100hz is impressive !

But, Ladies and Gentlemen, I bought a new "Garagetone Drivetrain" on Saturday.
It is a Reissue from the old Reverend Drivetrain, done by the good people of Visual Sound for their Garagetone series...

This green box blows all other Tubescreamer clones out of the water.
I guess it is one of the most underrated od pedals.

Mucho gain on tap, very versatile with Bass and Treble control and nice amount of Volume.

You can go from nice, subtle breakup to AC/DC-esque rock stuff. You can really make the tone of a dark amp more shiny and damp the chiming highs of a Fender Amp.

This thing cost 69 Euro in Germany = ~$86.

This thing is a real keeper.

Dude, the best relatively low-gain pedal I've ever heard is the Okko Diablo. Period.

fulltone OCD all the way

you can corksniff until your wallet is empty and you'll probably still come back to the OCD

I like the demos of the green rhino. I'm going to have to check one out I think.

I've really enjoyed the Love Pedal Vintage Valve for some old school "tweed deluxe" tones, very cool sounding tones (What? A demo video? Yes, I made one of one I made myself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9YOtFs8CoY

I'm hesitant to mention it because it's a little more into the distortion space of the spectrum, but can do some really cool overdrive tones as well, but the Catalinbread WIIO does an excellent tone as well. Great, searing leads with a nice pair of humbuckers.

I have the Diamond J Drive MK3.

It has independent boost and gain switches.

It is pretty dark/warm compared to other tube screamer type boxes, so if you are looking for a slightly darker sound, you may want to give it a try.

Also, the clean boost is really awesome. One of the best I have heard.

One of the characteristics of distorted overdrive is the natural increase in treble/brightness caused by the added harmonics created in the clipping process which removes elements of the strongest signal - i.e.bass. To some extent this is slightly moderated by the natural compression that also takes place (all compression reduces the treble response or perception to a degree). But the natural effect is to make 'overdrive' brighter or fizzy lacking in deep bass and developing a mid hump like sound (the typical overdriven guitar sound of so many great recordings). Changing this requires additional processing of the signal either in the pedal or with Eq.
Here we go; three, four...
