Anyone used one? Any good?

I've just moved to a new flat and I don't think my neighbours would appreciate my Rocker 30 too much, regardless of how good it sounds!

I thought that using one of these with either headphones or in to some small speakers would work quite well as a substitute for using pod farm on my laptop as that requires slightly too much mucking around for me to be bothered most of the time. (Space is a bit of an issue so I don't have room to have my interface out all of the time).

Any other suggestions? I assumed there wouldn't be but is there any thing I could get to take the load of the Rocker 30 and give a simulated speaker output to headphones?

Can't speak for the amplug, but I can recommend the Traynor Quarter horse. Sounds freakin sweet and very versatile, size of a pedal, reverb, tremelo, two channels. http://www.traynoramps.com/products.asp ... =56&id=439 More pricey then the Amplug, but worth it I think. Or if you have an iPhone, the iRig is pretty good.

The Traynor looks awesome but is a bit pricey.

The iRig however is a great idea! I wanted one when they first came out but I'd completely forgot they even existed.

Not a headphone amp, but if you have an iPad or a MAC, garage band has some pretty damn good amp models. It's only 5 bucks for the app on the iPad. They have an Orange model which is cool my favorite is the HiWatt with a treble boost. Definitely good enough tone for super quiet practice. I had tried the irig software and it totally blows, sounds downright shitty IMO. But you do need the irig dongle thing to use the garage band app too.

If you have an iPad, Mac, and use the garageband models - get the Apogee Jam. It's 100000x better than the iRig, and it works with your Mac as well as your iPad/iPhone. I love mine so much, it kicks tons of ass.

If you are looking at a headphone amp, the ehx model is superb.

It can take pedals and is fairly transparent.

The amplugs very much colour your sound, which is ok if you like the sounds, but personally, I found they sounded a bit cheap.

Get the Amplug. Know why?
It's analog, can be used if your amp blows up during a show, and best of all, IT SOUNDS GREAT!

I own the Traynor QuarterHorse and it is fantastic.
It kind of peaks headphones pretty quickly however is fine if you don't want it too loud (I have pretty bad hearing so YMMV).

It also sounds amazing going into an 8ohm cab. I ran it into a Cornford 2x12 with V30s and it was huge! Easily enough to gig with despite it only being 22watts.

It also takes all of my pedals really well.

Plenty of solutions out there, but the Vox Amplug does do it's thing well. I have the AC30 version and it does a great take on the unique sound and feel of an AC30. (I've got one of those too! )

I often use it when checking out instruments in music shops. Works for bass and guitar, clean or crunched right up.
