RIP Jon Lord

Post by a.hun » Mon Jul 16, 2012 7:40 pm

Yeah I know he wasn't a guitarist or bassist, but he still did some of the best rock licks and chops ever. He made a Hammond organ through a hot amp something very special indeed.

Another of the real greats has gone...

RIP.

It would be hard to imagine Deep Purple without him.

Saw Jon Lord and Steve Morse trading licks during LAZY when Deep Purple played in Melbourne about fifteen years ago , to this day it is still the most amazing this i have ever seen on stage. Not sure if there has ever been a keyboard player who was loved as much by guitarists as Jon Lord .

Ran the Hammond through a Marshall instead of a Leslie. Only two types of keyboard should be allowed in rock bands: a piano and a B3. Lord was the master of the B3.

I played "When a blind man cries" the day before he passed away...
Was relly shocked when I heard he died.

He was not just a hammond player. He was the mastermind, the greatest "musician" in the whole band.

May you rest in peace, mr. lord !

Our keyboard player has been (and is still) greatly inspired by you and your playing. Be sure we'll perform again and again Deep Purple hits and your parts, like we already do for SOTW on live shows, adding some of the Made In Japan parts (keyboard talking to guitar).
RIP :(
