Fuzz...is it just me or...

Post by savage8190 » Thu Apr 19, 2012 6:40 pm

Does channel 2 on the AD30 with the gain cranked up not sound better than any fuzz pedal out there?

I haven't touched either of my fuzzes much because I always just use the AD's natural fuzzy goodness. I think I'm just gonna sell 'em...my board gets simpler and simpler all the time and I'm likin' it.

I love natural fuzziness of oranges. but... i think fuzz is all about totally destroying natural guitar tone. Something like that:

Have you tried your pedals on thunderverb's channel B with gain between 11-12 and shape past 12 o'clock? (be sure to abjust pedal volume first so that the signal it not louder than your guitar signal bypass)

i LOVE Fuzz. just not Muffs. i actually can't stand them. give me a tonebender, a fuzzface, an Octavia...yeah, i'll be pretty happy. doesn't destroy your guitar's tone but just is a nice other option.

I'm also not fond of Muffs. The "70's" fulltone has the fuzz flavor I like the best (for rockabilly-garage tunes).

I have tried that actually, but I still prefer the AD channel 2 cranked. Sounds good with the TV too though. I'll probably keep them around to tinker with...god knows I'd just buy another one at some point.

i love delay in front of an amp, as long as you're not going for anything "subtle".

Being the owner of a Jam Pedals Red Muck and the soon to be owner of a TopTone DG-1 and DG-2, I have to disagree with you on the AD30 beating a good fuzz pedal.

I do like the natural fuzziness of my AD30TC, but the thick evilness and crunch of a Da MOAF thrown in front of it and tightened with a TS808 in front is even more awesome to my ear for full-on thick sounds. The 5-knob, 2-button Da MOAF I have just adds this amazing 3D wall-of-fuzz sound that you cannot get out of the amp on its own, it's very Smashing Pumpkins-esque. That fat Muff sound, but a lot more mid content.

From my experience-- Fuzz pedals do not work well with modern voiced orange amps (that have natural fuzz).

I returned my Big Muff PI faster than you can say "Orange."

Tasty fuzzzzz! I think all the older or more traditional Orange models all have beautiful fuzz. With the Rockerverb it's not quite what i'd call "fuzz", even on lower gain dirty settings... but stunning distortion.
My favourite fuzz will probably always be the Fuzz Factory. but not for the nice warm fuzz you speak of, those pedals are more for all the horrible glitchy noises and insanity. You can get some nice fuzz on them too, but nothing that will beat an Orange.
