Cheers for that. Gotta love our Ade - he's kool!
(His amps aren't too shabby either...)
Yeah, the OR15 sounds good there. Way more gain than an old OR of course, but then it isn't an old OR, it is a new one!
Andy.

I read somewhere that the old-style Orange logo on the #4 ws Jims 'personal preference'......seems more likely that it was just easier to use the OR15's faceplate overlay on both amps.....cheeky Orange

I watched this and immediately put a deposit down on an OR15 - hope you feel pleased with yourself...

Just happy I could help R ...
I definitely think Orange will have the best collection of 15 Watt amps (vacuum tube or valve based) to choose from and all are less that $750 (don't know what that is in pounds or euros).
I also liked the JR#4 ... If the OR15 had not been produced, I would buy a JR#4 ... I thought it sounded similar to the OR15, but with a little mid scoop ... Of course, according to Adrian, there is a reason for the similarity .... I think Adrian says that the OR15 and JR#4 have the same circuitry, just voiced different ... I think he goes on to say that the power tube breakup will be looser with the OR15 (tighter with the JR#4) ... I'm going to watch the video again and see if I can pick up on exactly what he says ...
PS - an Orange internet retailer had mistakenly listed the JR#4 as "in stock" ... I called to check on this (I would have bought one) and the guy check the warehouse and did not have one (surprise) ... he did say that they expected them in May.

Re: Music Radar Review of the OR15 and Jim Root ...
these amps are cool and all, but I'm just not into the voicing of them. I think they're sounding more and more marshallymesally instead of orangeally. That's great and all if ORange is giving what the customers want, but I don't think I'll be making any new purchases this year, even though the OR15 does interest me some. I'd like to hear it with the volume at max and the gain below 11:00, but I doubt we'll get many reviews like that, as everyone seems to be after the gain these days.
As always, I love an Ade demo.

Re: Music Radar Review of the OR15 and Jim Root ...
Usually that's exactly how Adrian demos the amps (from the demos I've seen him in) ... cranks the volume then adjusts the gain to taste ... Even in this video I think the volume is at 4 and the gain looks like it's at 6 ... I do know that my TH30 starts to sound different after the volume is past 2, what little fizz I could hear at the lower volume disappears ... A lot of video demos don't do that, they crank the gain and keep the volume below 25% ...

Yes I agree I think those amps sound like Mesa boogie or some other type of super high gain amp.

I hear ya, but i do like the sound of these compared to the 40th anny version... but maybe i could swing an OR50 with 4x12 instead of 2 & a ES-339 with the funds... I know all best will be off when Gibson re-releases the Grohl 335. Tough.
Either way, all the new stuff is amazing!

I dig the OR15 in this video, sounds less fizzy and more inline with what I'd like. It would be fun to try out. Maybe A/B with a nice Princeton Reverb I'm building.
