What I did was, I bought a speaker grille and mounted it to the grille. Then discovered that the drum rim wouldn't secure it so cut out a drum head and used it to attach the speaker to the drum sheel.
Drilled out the vent hole and installed an XLR jack. Wired it together but used a 10K ohm resistor across the terminals, and a 100K ohm resistor in series with one of the wires as an L pad to bring down the hot signal.
6.5" woofer 8 ohm.
Also packed it off to reduce resonance by packing it with shipping peanuts (also what I use inside my drums as muffling- fun to watch them bounce around)
Bought a snare stand and a tom mount to put together to hold it all together.

Yeah, at our last gig. Our soundman said it added some good low end that he blended in with the mic he normally uses on the kick. Sounded huge out front!Borderline Productions wrote:So have you used it yet?
