OR 120

Post by padbug » Tue Jun 15, 2010 12:45 pm

Hi there everybody!

I'm in the process of acquiring an OR 120 second hand, but I cannot find any specs sheets online nor help figuring out the meaning of the serial number.

According to the seller, "it seems to have 2 serial numbers, one of them is 0 1 5 4 1 1, the other is on a metallic black plate at the back panel and reads 6 3 5 4 1." I'm a tech n00b so I'm not even sure which one is significant to the history/manufacture of the amplifier.

Is there anyone here who could help me out in either respect please?

Cheers very much!

The serial number doesn't have any sort of magic code. I'd suggest you go here:

http://users.telenet.be/orangefg/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and click on the OR120 info on the left...

The 15411 serial number suggests it was made in 1978 according to this timeline:

Hi Billy,
You keep saying that, but if you check the 'dating Oranges' page very near the bottom of the page list on the same site you'll find there is a well established code system for amps between '73 and '79. As Sooner suggests that dates a 15XXX amp to '78.

That is for the chassis codes. Still no idea why they put totally different higher no. codes on the back plate...
