Anyone do their own Wah Wah mods?

Post by misterMagoo » Fri Mar 26, 2010 4:37 am

I modded my vox V847 two weeks ago to the suggestions found here:

http://www.wah-wah.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

listed on the true bypass and circuit mods section of the diy page.

Now when I engage my pedal I get an unbearably loud pop! Otherwise the pedal sounds great.

Does anyone have any suggestions to get rid of the pop? ANyone else who modded their wah have this problem?

I picked up a Roger Mayer Vision Wah which eliminated any desire I had for tweaking a wah. The 4 switches on front give you 16 different sweep voices along with two knobs, one controls the output and other controls the wet / dry mix.

Everybody that plays it is absolutely floored by the way it sounds and feels.

my guess would be a grounding issue. check all your solder joints and the way you wired the 3dpt switch.
EDIT EDIT EDIT
just read the instrunctions on that site. you are using a DPDT and that makes sense with no led. try using the wah as the only thing in your effects line before the guitar, some pedals cause funny things to happen with other pedals. If that doesn't work and you can't find any grounding issues with your joints, you could try a 1M resistor between the input cap and ground, that may help.

Yeah I figured it out. In my haste, I forgot to wire the ground wire onto the pot and the switch. Problem solved!

Thanks for agreeing and I'll take Curb Your Enthusiasm season 4. Now put a bow on it.
