Overdrive = clipping that isn't all that intense. ;) (When I say distortion, I'm speaking from the sense of electrical engineering, not from the sense of tone description. I'd totally agree with you when it comes to tone description)

Yay for tubescreamers! I just ordered a Maxon OD9, I'm impatient for it to arrive already...

The late 80's early 90's mij ibanez ts9's are my favorite. The ts10 isn't too bad either. Maxon made them, and I have some of the Maxon reissues. The od808 sounds real nice with a ts9 set kind of clean in front of it. The sd-9 is cool for more harmonic distortion. Maxon makes 3-4 TS9 reissues, but imho the 3 knob ts9 ri is the best. Just my opinion of course..

The OD9 is supposed to be really close to an original TS9, not that I've tried one of those but the consensus seems to be that if you want a good TS9 then you can't go far wrong with the Maxon. Like you said, they made them
originally!

I tried it out at band practice, it wasn't bad, but the Danelectro Cool Cat Drive sounded more lively and interesting. It'll go on the eBay as soon as I'm able.

Just giged my ts9 for thr first time. I love it! I already use a catalinbread SCP and a serano picoso boost, then through the ts9 in front of those with gain at 2 o'clock, volume maxed and tone set far left, omg! Perfect for over the top gained out crunch. I think it will be on my board for a while. My ad140 finally has a fighting chance against our other guitarist tripple rec. Lol.
