Damn, I need to go to the closest GC and see what they have. If they have any of these on clearance for seven bills, minus the $125 I have in gift cards from my in-laws, I might have to give into the GAS pains these guitars have been giving me for the last six months.

The only thing I am really confused about is, there is no wear on the fretboard (maple necks) between the 9th and 12th fret...
Thats on all the roadworns I've seen...

For me it doesnt look "natural"...

but by the way...the roadworns are decent guitars for the price !

wowserS!

what a beauty, I could almost cough up 7 for a mexican guitar, but 930? thats rough considering I can get avri thinskins next door for 1199. but if it fits.... rock it! congrats! two questions. what the neck radius, and is it nitro laq? i absolutely can't get over the way nitro feels. and am actually turning into a snob about it. I ask cuz I am considering a highway one p-bass. but a roadworn would be cool. again, the highway one is american after all.

This is just MY opinion.

The road worn series Strats that I have tried in my local store have blown away the American ones hanging on the wall next to them.
Forget where it was made and by whom and realise a great guitar is just that...a great guitar!!!

Enjoy that guitar Jeff.....you deserve it! 8)

First, where do you get AVRI thin-skin guitars for $1200???

Second, +1 to what Brian said -- I can't speak to the basses, but the Road Worn guitars (my opinion here...) are just as well made as most of the American-made Fenders that I've played in the last two or three years.

Mine was $700. The neck is 7.25" radius, Body is nitro, necks are poly (but a lot of it has been sanded off). The RW basses look pretty cool too.

Ironically, where it was made and by whom is a fitting comment when you stop to think that the REAL 50's & 60's Fenders often have Tadeo Gomez written inside and that the pickups were wound by Abigail Ybarra. If you go by that, then Mexican Fenders have the potential to be more authentic than USA made ones! ha ha ha!

Funny you mention that. I was just thinking how funny it is that the Mexican factory in Ensenada / Baja is basically right across the street from the Corona facility (as was the Fullerton location). Since that is southern CA, I'd also be willing to bet that a great deal of the Corona employees are hispanic.

Hmmm..... that explains why I play better after eating Mexican food.

Seriously - when do I get to see pics with that tort guard on??!?!??

Aw man, I'm gonna' stay w/ the one that's on it right now. It reminds me of 'blackie/brownie' from EC's 70's stuff. I may change it later when it gets old to me. I need to get some recordings of my current band!

Those beans make me tune my flute BTW :D

walkin' softly here, I thought I posted a reply earlier...........was I edited? we'll try again, i'm sure billy or teddy knock me down a peg if I am outta line. my local guitar shop has a few thinskins left. tele's are 1199, and strats last I checked were 1249. um I'd give you the name, but I don't wanna get myself in trouble. I do agree about am standards and deluxes. 1. I hate the shiney glossy look. 2. the action is always set super low and the strings are super small. I dunno I just don't get it. + its easy to take steel wool to the neck of a nitro guitar and wear it down to almost nuthin' with out there being any scratch marks. 3, I find poly gets sticky when its dirty. I don't dispute the rw's are great, I think they are just over priced, by a mile. + I don't think there was ever a question of craftsmaship w/mim's I was just under the impression they had cheaper components ( wires pots p/u's) that the americans.

Congrats man! Those roadworns feel great, despite the relic debate. I'm very tempted to buy one of those road worn sunburst telecasters and slap a joe strummer neck on it...

Got a '60's version of the Strat this weekend, will post pics tomorrow. It's awesome. They had two at the store, both on clearance. One was Olympic White, and needed a real setup. The floating bridge was stuck (someone was clearly trying to set it up and didn't know what they were doing) and the truss rod needed a serious adjustment. The other was the sunburst, which is what I got, because it already had a very good setup. I'll probably play it as is till the strings go dead, then put 11s on it and adjust the setup accordingly.
