OT: What's your favorite Telecaster overdrive?

Post by WannaBmyself » Thu Jul 09, 2009 12:59 am

I'll soon be getting my tele out of GC layaway and am looking for a certain kind of sound (pretty much straight SRV/Pearl Jam). I have the TS9 of course, but I just wondered if there was something else that you tele owners have that makes you absolutely love to play it.

On a side note, I like my Zendrive, but I think I'm going to tell it to get my tele quicker.

ANYWAY, WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE TELE OD?

My favorite OD period, is the Fulltone OCD. Goes great with my Tele through any amp I've ever tried it with.

I figured somebody might say that exact thing haha. Think the little 59's the way to go? I thought about putting a Quarter Pound in it to keep a slight twang.

I really like it on mine. It has a good crunch to it w/ out being too hot. Sounds more vintage (like Pearl Jam). Very reasonably priced too.

I think it is too dependent on the amplifier and the player to be specific, we could have the same gear and pass the guitar between us in real time and sound so different. That said the TS9 with a little treble off the guitar but plenty on the amp of choice might get you there.
Here we go; three, four...

Yeah, depends what sound i'm going for, hence i've got a few ODs on my board, as well as a clean boost.

Barber LTD along with my AD30 set at verge of breakup is really doing it for me at the moment.

+1 for the OCD. I like the OCD with my SG and SuperSonic as well, but it really shines with my Tele + AD30

A lot of the guys on the telecaster forum are using Pedalworx stuff like the Cactus Crunch and what not. Anybody using these as well?

Nah... they're probably good, but just find a pedal or two you like and stick with it.

Cmatmods butah. It's a copy of the marshall bluesbreaker I think. Sick pedal if the zendrive doesn't tickle your fancy.
