I am really digging this band just now....I love the way they play across the beat in parts of the song...........listen to the drummer............I think us guitarists are supposed to listen to the drummer aren't we?! :D

I really like the Kings of Leon, and yes I agree you are supposed to listen to the drummer. I enjoy the way that the drummer and the guitarist interact in the group System of a Down.

Well Brian... I used to quite like them when they were more raw, stripped down and energetic, but I have to say I really don't like their new album. Obviously they've suddenly got a lot more mainstream success as a result of it, but on the downside I think they traded in the quirkiness that made them unique in exchange for a 'safe' sound that would win more fans. I can't begrudge any band success, it's what we all want I guess, but it makes me a bit sad when bands I like water their sound down to appeal to the masses.

Hey Teddy! That's cool! 8)

I'm a late starter that's all! :D At my age it's quite the thing to admire a current band!!:D

I have never heard any of their other stuff only what has been on the radio, and did they just do what metallica did and get the right producer to get radio play? not dissing metallica as I have liked them from the beginning just saying if you want radio play get Bob Rock to produce your record or Mutt Lange and you can retire shortly thereafter

Yep, I started liking them after the 3rd or 4th time I heard 'Mollys Chambers'. I couldnt stand that song at first! I agree with Teddy that their quirkyness is what make them so good for me. Having said that I think they have some really good songs on the current album (which I enjoy on the whole) and they still sound like 'them' even if the style has changed a little.

'Closer' and 'Cold Desert' are a bit different but both brilliant in my opinion.

I'm with Teddy on this one. I loved their first 2 albums, but can't get into the 3rd and new one at all.

+1.

i think that a couple songs from the new album are awesome, especially closer and crawl. but the rest sound like an indie-nickelback to me. i thought that their first new albums lacked any sense of rhythm and riff, and the singer's voice pisses me off too.

Kings of Leon are huge in the UK, which is strage to me because there are so many awesome bands there that i think make KOL look like posers. muse comes to mind. they can play the pants off KOL any day of the week.

i heard a funny story about them from a friend who works in the business. supposedly when they first got kind of big, they were the most arrogant young punks around. talking sh!t about fans and what not. well one day some manager scared the s--- out of them with a stern warning about how there are 100 bands who sound just like them and don't have the attitude they have. supposedly they became a completely different band after that and are now really professional.

either way, my personal opinion is that they are a fashion rock band. they look like a band, but i don't think anyone will care about them in 10 years.
My name is Alex. I used to have an AD30HTC, but now I have an RV50 and PPC212.

I thought the new nickelback was Theory of A Deadman, as Chad is writing and producing for them now.

was a huge fan of the first two albums, third was alright, fourth was a bit meh..
they try and create this big sound which they do well, but i just liked it when they were playing dirty rock n roll.
i actually saw them last week for the 4th time.
the First time was the best....

i suggest listening to the first two ablums. i think there much better than the latter two

Not a fan, but i do like their new album. Like the soundscapes they create. And their drummer is great. Like his style. To me they sound like coldplay with balls.
Got to get into their older work though....
