Just sold my '52 Re-issue, had it for 10 years and swore i was gonna keep it forever.
Unfortunately, unforseen circumstances mean that i had to sell it as i am in desperate need of money
Think i am a little depressed right now, anyone else been though the same thing?

Yeh I've recently sold all of my gear apart from a guitar, bass and practice amp.
My band split up a few weeks ago and my family and I are currently moving house, so I wasn't getting that much use out of them.
I also need the money for my driving lessons and car.
But i'm working all this summer and by the end I should have enough to go on a shopping spree to denmark street
Sorry to hear about your guitar though - I hope your circumstances improve soon.

If it's any consolation I think that a lot of people are going to be hitting some "unforseen circumstances" pretty soon, thanks to those geniuses on Wall Street.
I'm sure you'll be back fighting fit and in guitar-buying shape in no time.

It is sad to release your pets back into the wild. I have been on my knees before and can say that family and friends are more important than any (however long loved) guitar of piece of gear is valued. I've got guitars and an amp that each exceed 30 years custody with me. I have parted with others of course and would these too if needs must. You should always try to have a beater guitar around to fan the flames and keep your spirits up, in the end its the music not the gear.
We're all going to a 4 day week now so the sky darkens, but we will all get through this one day soon. Been there and done it before.
Best wishes.

Here we go; three, four...

Yes, I've been there. Not through an economic depression though but through illness. I was in the final year of my nursing training and got slammed by a pretty unfriendly little virus beasie. Basically flattened me for all of 1988, and I was pretty lucky to be able to go back and finish my training after only about a year out. Of course money got very tight so I had to sell 'most everything bar the Orange head. Lost my first two basses, LP collection, quite a lot of other stuff I still miss. Still wish I could also have kept my first bass - nothing special, but a well usable Aria Jazz copy. Only got peanuts for it too.
Main thing though is that I got my health back and could start over. Wishing you good health, and the strength to see past the bad times!

Yeah, without meaning to get too political here, I can see where the late great Kurt Vonnegut was coming from when describing modern Capitalism as 'what we call the casinos on Wall Street'. Thanks a bunch guys, we all get to share the 'joys' of losing now!
(PS no I'm not your communist / anarchist / subversive type - not as such. Well okay, maybe just a tiny bit subversive... [:p])

That's okay Andy! if it weren't for that type, we'd all be speaking Latin.

Oddness, eh?
Andy.

It hurts to just read this post. No I have never had to sell something I love that I want to keep. I hope I never have to do that.
