Please add your reasons below

1. Can have the meanest and also the sweetest tone

2. There are many bad sounding les pauls and a few bad sounding strats, but i have never played a bad sounding tele

3. If your coverband plays johnny cash, muddy waters, rage against the machine and marilyn manson, you still only need THAT one guitar

4. No vibrato/tremolo

5. Was the first and is still the coolest

6. They where never Mainstream like the Strat or Les Paul

7. You only get to know how good your Orange sounds when you plug your Tele in

Still prefer strats...also, I've always considered teles mainstream. Jazzmasters, Dipinto guitars, etc. are some I don't qualify as mainstream.

I prefer strats to be honest but I love how simple a Tele is. Makes me want to buy an Esquire to really learn how to play the guitar properly :)

I still believe tele's are magical.

Don't get me wrong. I love my Telecaster, but I still need/want more than one tool in my toolbox too. :)

A few reasons why Teles aren't perfect:

1. They don't have a middle pickup
2. They can hum too much
3. Most don't have wang bars

A few reasons why Strats aren't perfect:

1. Some people just don't want a 3rd pickup
2. They can hum too much
3. Who needs a stinkin wang bar?

A few reasons why Les Pauls and SGs and 335s etc. aren't perfect:

1. They don't have 3 pickups
2. Some are too damn heavy
3. Humbuckers don't sound as good as single coils
4. Most don't have wang bars

In short....ain't no perfect guitars...not perfect for everyone.

Yeah, I would call myself a telecaster fanatic.I still love my strats, and lately I have become endeared to an SG.I have never played a bad tele, but some are amazing. If I could only have one guitar ,it would be my Nocaster.

I am going through a Strat phase right now. But I think if I had to have one guitar for all of my life, it would be a 52 RI tele. I would miss that bridge pup. Mean, spanky, chimey.

All guitars should have Jazzmaster tremolo.
