It did win the Platinum Guitar World award, so they must be doing something right....I have a chace to swap my Mesa plus some cash for one.

A pile of sh*t would get a platinum award from GW if it spent as much money in adverts as Krank does.

Besides.... most of the original Krank users were former Peavey 5150 users of the death metal variety. Some food for thought....

Agree with Daisy... guitar magazines have an irritating habit of giving good ratings to amps from companies that spend a load of money on advertising for them.

I'd be cautious on the whole awards front... case in point, Guitarist awarded their "gold" award to only a handful of amps, including the THD bivalve, the Mesa F50, and the Matamp 1224 MkII. I love the 1224, one of the reasons why I have one, but I do not like the F50.

Have a bash with one yourself before trading in...

They seem to be fine for the chug a lug, it does the whole "scooped" thing pretty well and is geared for metal. However, my band borrowed a friends krankenstein for a practice once and it didn't really stand up to the orange's massive warm tone. Not my bag really, acceptable if you're a shredder though.

Try it out and see if you like it. I think their name doesn't do them justice, everybody automatically writes them off as crap metal amps because of the name.

I know the Chadwick's rock pretty hard but I've never tried the others. I think they'd be worth playing just to set the record straight.

Ive heard some guys use them live, and have been nothing but impressed with them. The revo's sound really good. Check out Noah from the band Pillar. He uses Krank Chadwicks and Revo 1's almost exclusively.

Holy mixed reviews. Thanks everyone...lots of food for thought here. I'd be swapping my Mesa Tremoverb 2x12 for a Rev 1 2x12 in Yellow. Based on what the Rev 1 costs new, vs the Tremoverb, me thinks I'd get a good deal...BUT, like everyone said, try it on for size first. From what I've read, the Krank Rev 1 is supposed to be killer. Hand wired, 2 channel, built like a rock and sounds great with the Eminence speakers, BUT then again, its good to get solid, reliagle feedback from fellow players.

Thanks cats.
