so i was playing my R30 the other day pretty loud. and then all of the sudden, the volume got so quiet on both channels. now, i cant hear either channel of the amp at all unless i turn it way up (passed 12'o'clock). if i do that, i can hear it. but it is very, very quiet.

I dont know what the problem is! i dont think its the power tubes, they look like they are fine. they're glowing a little blue/violet, but nothing out of the ordinary. i dont think its the preamp tubes either be cause i can still hear the amp a little if i turn it way up. my Rocker 30 is only 4 months old.. so i would think all the tubes would be fine. but im not sure..

can any of you help?! please! :?:

thanks in advance! :D

the exact same problem with my thunderverb. i took it to a tech. it was a power tube issue for me.

just because they're glowing doesn't mean they're fine.

Yeah, sounds like a power tube issue. One of the pait has probably shorted.

+1.

Or possibly the last of the preamp valves, the 'phase inverter', as both channels go via that to the power amp stage. That is the furthest away of the three from the guitar input socket.

Try replacing that first if you have a spare preamp valve handy. (And if you haven't, why not...? ;))

I just tried replacing the V3 preamp valve.. didnt fix it.
ill take it into the shop i got it from and throw a new pair of EL34's in it and see if that fixes it.

thanks guys for the suggestions!

Save yourself the diagnostic / labor fee and swap 'em yourself. The Rocker 30 doesn't have to be biased. Just get the 6CA7 (or EL34 in your case) replacement tubes, plug 'em in and go! If that doesn't work, then take it in...
