does anyone own or has anyone heard a mid-90's OR80/120 reissue head? how does it sound compared with the 70's OR80/120? also, are there any differences between an early 70's OR80 and an OR120 besides the wattage difference? is the tone the same from a early 70's OR80 and OR120? also, everyone says that the OR120 is LOUD. but what about the OR80...is it louder than you would expect from an 80watt amp?
sorry about all the questions, but you guys seem like the perfect crowd to ask .

Well i cant compare the reissue's to the vintage Or120/80's but i know a great web site to check out. It has tons of Orange info on all the stuff new, reissue and vintage. http://www.geocities.com/geertjacobs/orange_page.htm
About the Or80 its LOUD too i hear. I will be able to let you know first hand in a day or two. I plan to pick up my 77 OD80 and can compare it to my 70's OR120. You may also check these reviews out if you havent already.

Well, I have one of each- OR80's from 1978 and then 90's. The 1978 head is definitely louder- not saying that the 90's head doesn't sound good- just that you find yourself turning it up a lot more than the head from the 70's. Tonewise, it's pretty much the same- I'd suspect the difference in tone might be due more to output tubes than the amp itself and for the life of me, I can't remember what's in each of them right now.... maybe I should retube the 90's amp and see how it sounds then.... I'll get back to you on that. Billy
The 80 and 120 sound exactly the same. Same circuit in every way but less power obviously. I have both and the only diff is that the 80 starts to break up at a lower volume level. Good for recording in my opinion. I have found that all 70's or120 and or80 amps when properly maintained consistantly sound very much alike. If you know the sound and like it it's hard to go wrong. I have not heard the 90's version but the adds for them stated that they were faithfully reproduced.
However I don't believe everything I read. I would like to hear one for myself.

i have read that the 120 starts breaking up around 8, but by the time you reach 8 your ears are already bleeding. so even though the or80 breaks up at a lower volume level, is that volume level still higher than anyone would ever need to play at?
thanks
eric
