what is this all about?

Maybe someone can help you date your Orange Amplifier?

quote:
this is an email i got from Matamp: great looking amp, these are my favorite looking orange amps. [pic only] There is a reason the front panels were made like this in 1974. That was the first year of the PIC ONLY front panel. Then the reverse Plexi Reverse Panel which a reveresed spray on the clear plex... Up until 1974 the units said ORANGE Matamp, then the PIC Only ORANGE, then the version with the Crest. So this unit is actually a 1974 or early 1975.

you would think matamp would know what they are talking about but i'm not so sure that the above email is very accurate. there is a guy in australia with a orange head just like mine that he got new in 1972...and he said he had to wait months for it to arrive from england. his is also an or120 like mine. the above amp is an ors100 which i thought was even older than mine. 1974 just doesn't sound right.

also, isn't there an orange catalog from 1973 with "pix and text" oranges featured in it on the net somewhere? i think ive seen it on ebay a few times too.

i dont know what to think. matamp should know, but 1974 just doesn't sound right.

anyone?

It's a late '71 early '72 ORS100. I have one. This was the first Orange to go into production following the Orange Matamp OR100.
20 years of collecting Orange amps and this is only the second one I have seen. Mine sounds horrific right now. It's gonna need some work.
