So I just picked up this rockerverb 100 from guitar center, used. The serial number doesn't seem to fit the description of how to date the amps, so I was wondering if anyone had any info, or if they thought it was fake by chance? I can still take it back if it is. I just need to know. Haha.
Here are some pictures, the first being of the serial number. Let me know what you all think!
Thank you!

Looks real to me. I can't imagine anyone trying to counterfeit an Orange...

That's what I was thinking too. I imagine it'd be hard and expensive to counterfeit one anyways. It was just a worry at the back of my mind. But the serial number is still leaving me curious!bclaire wrote:Looks real to me. I can't imagine anyone trying to counterfeit an Orange...
Thanks for the reply, bclaire!

Hi again,
Yeah that'll be real enough, I really don't see it being a fake, especially not from a big chain like GC. It is likely a US built one (despite the England label!) and Orange US - just like Orange UK - sometimes like to do things differently. You could always contact Orange US and see if they can help date it for you.
One thought: If you have a look inside from the back you should be able to see if the transformers (big iron lumps inside) have orange coloured metal cover plates. Most don't, but for a short while Orange US used (excellent)Mercury Magnetics transformers with that distinctive look. That could help with dating it, but your best bet is phoning the company themselves. (Or e-mailing them if you are very patient...)
Andy.
