Dating a ppc412 cab

Post by Bahron » Thu Oct 13, 2011 5:09 pm

Hi everyone, I need to date this cab I found out and I'd like to know something about the production of these cabs, because I was told that some are all China made (ppc412B), while others are made in England. What can you tell me about that?

Thank you very much!

If I am reading it correctly as "OR412-5011", it should be a 2011 model.

The Chinese-made Orange cabs say "Made in China" on them (go figure :D ). I have not heard of any PPC412 cabs being made anywhere other than England and the U.S., though the PPC410, PPC212-OB, and PPC112 are made in China.

If you are in North America, your cab was probably made in Kentucky. Otherwise, it was probably made in the U.K.

Thanks man, neither I had heard about 4x12s made in China. There's always a bit of confusion about amps, eheh. Ok, so now I hope I can reach a good deal in buying this cab, there are no lots of these used, in Italy.
Thanks again!

They said me that this cab has been in a studio for a couple of years. May it be a 2010, or 2009 model?

Normally they have more digits in the serial number, but they could have changed their method (I don't really know). You would usually see "OR412-XXXX-MMYY" where XXXX is the production number and MMYY is the production month and year. One possibility is that the production number is "5011" and the date code would have been written at the end by hand. This is likely, due to the fact that "50" is not a month :D . Can you tell if there is any evidence of black marker written after the stamped number?

Don't know about the date but it says 'Made in England' so I'm guessing it was...
