Hi I have an Orange OR80 that I purchased [used] over 8 years ago.
It looks a bit different that MOST of the ones I see, in that the orange paint stencil covers the control knobs in 2 large rectangular blocks.
I've only see one or two others that look this way.
Is there a way to establish the age?
Serial# 80162

are the large rectangular blocks you are talking about like the ones present on this orange head?

are the pictures above the knobs on yours the same size as in the ones in the picture above, or are they smaller?

my guess is that its anywhere from a '71 - '73. i believe the one in the above picture to be from 1971, due to its plexi panel, "orange/matamp knobs", bolt pattern, etc.

hope this helps.

Hi Eric,
Thanks for the reply (Nice photo's too)!
The paint work and knobs on mine look very much like that, except ...
No words "in" "out" near the echo send/return jacks.
The Orange "Coat of Arms" in the top right has only a black outline, rather than being filled in.
Chassis front is metal with that baked on enamel paint finish, not plexi.
No mounting bolts on the front panel.
I'm thinking that the serial # includes the model: so 80172 is OR80 number 172. (they almost certainly didn't make 80,000 of these creatures!)
Just a guess.
Cool amps nonetheless!
