Can someone help me date a head?
I was in my local guitar shop today and saw an old Orange OR120. The serial number read 656. Could someone tell me the year this amp was made? Thank you.

Hi 198d__. Welcome.
If it is an OR120 I'd say it was a 1990s reissue rather than a '70s amp. Dating Orange amps isn't perfect but the 3 digits on an OR suggests that to me.

You can see some of the differences between the '70s amps and '90s reissues here...

...and read more details about some of the differences at the thread I linked to there too.
If the one in that shop isn't an 'Overdrive' (ie is a non master volume version of the OR120) most of the info on '70s / '90s differences in the 'Orange' logo and electronics etc would still apply.
You could aways grab a couple of pics of that amp and we could tell you more.
Andy.
