OR120 - OVERDRIVE
Re: Is this Matamp OR120?
Definitely not Matamp as they never had anything to do with the Overdrive series. Orange Overdrives were mid to late 70s. Have a look at this:

Re: Is this Matamp OR120?
Hi tirtir.
The original Overdrives ran from '76 to '78/9. But yours is one of the 1990s reissues. See the differences here:
Sorry, I don't know what year that will actually be, but around '94 to '97 or so I'd guess.
Yours has had a standby fitted to what was the (pretty useless) slave output on the rear panel.
That (if done right) is handy and is a non destructive modification since the hole was there already!
Make sure you run really good strong power valves with that amp and that a tech biases it properly so as not to run them too hot.
Some very good info on that in this thread, especially from 'fiveightandten' on p.2:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=42750&hilit=bias" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
BTW it is not at all impossible that Matamp did have something to do with that amp. Many of the '90s reissues were actually built by them for Orange.
The two companies were still talking to each other at that point in time. If it says 'Matamp' somewhere on the circuit board that will be right enough...
Andy.

Glad to help.
Yeah, some strange fruit right enough, and powerful stuff!
Enjoy the amp - they are fantastic!

You shouldn't as you were right from the start. That amp is built by Matamp in some time between the years of '94-'99. Although being built there doesn't mean it's a Matamp. It's an OMI Orange spec re-issue.Daves wrote:I sit corrected!
