I bought this one today Serial No. 2039, but i do have no idea dating this one or which speakers have been used. In my other 4x12 from 1975 (3rd picture) i found four Fane speakers.
How can i find out what kinda speakers they have built in and dating this cab ?

Hi David,Orphin wrote:Is the speaker in the second picture from the Ormat cab?
Considering that "Orange" sticker and the high serial number I would guess that it's a very late built cab, '72-'75.
Try calling Matamp and see what they say.
thanks for your reply.
I thought Orange Matamp Products have been launched till 1971, so i think this cab is latest from 71.
Yes in picture number too you can see the speaker from my om cab.
by the way, congrats to you. the latest songs you added are fantastic, especially "way beyond the sun".
Thank you very much!
Orange Matamp officially launched in 15th of August in 1969. Only a few prototypes were built before that. Most of the amps and cabs were made between the years 1970-'72. That's when the company was the most active.
Orange, or OMI, released their first catalog in 1971 I think, and since there is a sticker saying "Orange" on it (if somebody didn't put it there later on of course), the cab must be new enough for OMI to print their stickers..
Then the Orange Matamp co-op ended in 1972, but Cooper-Mathias Ltd wasn't officially folded until 1975, and I think I read that a few Orange Matamp stuff were still made during these last three years.
I would like to see a close up photo of that sticker, and also see all four speakers. Do you think you can take some new pics?

do you still have the cab shown in the picture
I am trying to ID my cab and looking at your speakers they are very similar to mine.
Do you plan to open the back again, as I would love to see your cab construction.
Another member advised that Orange cabs from the 70's have triangle braces but from your photos yours look like square braces like mine.
picutres of my cab are here

Re:
Those speakers are installed by Orange. Probably Matamp built the unloaded cab for Orange. This tells me that the cab is probably built between the years 1972-1975. These were the years when both Orange Matamp (Cooper Mathias ltd.) and Orange (OMI) existed.OliverKing wrote:3 New Compton Street, WC2
